About bathroom resealing in Highland
Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. It also seals the gaps that let water behind the bath. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps between the worktop and the wall and smears of silicone across the tiles.
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is and we leave things clean and tidy.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
- We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How we quote
Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.
Why choose Mr Mastic
- Rated 4.9 stars on Google
- An ARBOMaster approved applicator
- Arbo and Everbuild products
- A sealant colour to suit the surroundings
Getting a quote
There’s no standard price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Local landmarks in Inverness
In Inverness, that means homes and buildings near Inverness, Cavell Gardens and Maple Court Hotel. The closest station to Inverness is Inverness station, about 0.7 miles north of the centre. Well-known places in the area include Inverness Castle (0.5 miles north) and Inverness Museum and Art Gallery (0.5 miles north). Open spaces near Inverness include Tomnahurich.
Where we work in Highland
Across Highland, from Inverness, Nairn and Thurso outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
Scotland has its own building regulations, and homes here bring their own details: sash and case windows, harled walls and, in the towns and cities, tenement flats. We work across Scotland, including Highland. In the coastal parts of Highland, the sea-facing side of a building takes the most weather, so they’re often the first to fail. The right product and careful preparation help it last.
Inverness: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Inverness High School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Rented homes near Inverness station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams. Several sites can go on one quote.
Surface by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Kitchen joints need more degreasing than bathroom ones, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.
Sinks & splashbacks
Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. It’s resealed in white, clear or a colour to suit.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
There’s no set price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:
- How much there is to do
- Mould in or behind the old joints
- The type of sealant required
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
Call for a quick quote, or email us if that is easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll talk you through the work before giving you a price.
Why act early?
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it will not bond. Water creeps under it and mould follows, so the next person has twice as much to remove.
What your quote should include
- Whether they’re fully insured
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
- Which colour the sealant will be
- What the cure time is
Why it fails
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. Along worktops it tends to pull back from the wall, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.
The problems people generally mention when they call include:
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
FAQs for Highland
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint.
Do you work in Highland?
Yes. We’re based in Crawley and work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Can mouldy silicone be sorted out?
Yes, by replacing the sealant. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. We agree the price before any work begins.
Do you work for letting agents?
Yes. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do.
Can tenants book the work?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
