Aviemore Bathroom Resealing
Bathroom resealing across Aviemore and nearby, with every bit of old sealant taken out first.
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Water getting behind the bath panel
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
Common problems we fix in Aviemore
Black mould is behind a lot of resealing. Bathrooms without good ventilation give mould all the damp it needs, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
People usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- Leaks into the floor or ceiling below
- Splits where the tray meets the wall
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
If you let a flat or house near Aviemore station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Aviemore
Across Aviemore, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on baths, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks, and people most often call us about lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away.
In and around a place like Aviemore, homes range from older stone-built properties to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

What happens on the day
Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. For most jobs that takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers, and the area is left clean. Somewhere like Aviemore may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Can I do it myself?
Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. The common mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using far too much.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.
What we cannot put right
To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Landlord and commercial work in Aviemore
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
We also work for property managers and facilities teams in Aviemore and across Highland. We can quote a run of properties together, and we are fully insured for the work.
Different surfaces, different methods
Kitchen worktops & upstands
Kitchen joints need more degreasing than bathroom ones, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. Proper degreasing is what helps the new joint last.
Wet rooms
Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.

Bathroom resealing around Aviemore
Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.
Around Aviemore, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Why deal with it now?
Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. In a place like Aviemore, small leaks are easy to put off, but water behind a failed seal does the most damage when nobody’s watching.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Ask us for a quote and we’ll go through it with you.

Questions from Aviemore
I let a flat near Aviemore station. Can you help?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners, and several properties can be quoted together. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the details for a clear quote.
Is Aviemore within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
What should I tell you?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Where is Mr Mastic based?
We are based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
