How we handle regrouting in Aviemore

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout belongs between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they’re sealed with silicone rather than grout. Renewing both together means nothing is left half-done. If you are dealing with cracked or crumbling grout lines and cracked grout along the bath or tray, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Being further from a city does not change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.

We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee.

Why deal with it now?

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and often a few days without a shower. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Around Aviemore, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster, which is a far bigger job than the sealant.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.

How the job changes by surface

Corners and edges

Edges are resealed while we are there, so the whole area is finished together.

Bathroom floors

Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It gets worn and dirty.

The process

We bring everything the job needs with us, so there’s nothing for you to buy. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Outdoor work around Aviemore depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. We regrout the joints and clean the tile faces.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

FAQs for Aviemore

Do you work for landlords with property near Aviemore station?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before work begins.

Do you cover Aviemore for regrouting?

Yes, Aviemore is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Should corners be grouted or sealed?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout can’t take that movement.

Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?

Yes, we often do. Shower grout tends to go before the rest, so many people regrout just that part.

Will you leave a mess?

Tidy work is part of the job. Nearby surfaces are protected, and we clear up when we’re done.

What if some of my tiles are loose?

Loose or hollow tiles are a sign of a problem behind them. Grout on its own won’t fix that, and we’ll tell you before work begins.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Aviemore?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You’ll get a clear quote before we start.

Can you seal over the old sealant?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and it traps any mould or water underneath. It all has to come out first.

Aftercare tips

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Wipe the tiles down after a shower keeps water off the grout. Ventilate the room well so the grout dries between uses.

Stains that won’t clean are a sign the grout is breaking down. At this point it’s a simple regrout while the tiles are still sound.

DIY versus a professional finish

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Regrouting around Aviemore

Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

Rented homes near Aviemore station change hands often, and stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What affects the quote in Aviemore

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • Mould in or behind the old joints
  • How many areas need sealing
  • Access and height
  • Working hours on commercial sites

Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. The price is agreed before we begin.

Asking for a quote

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • The rough size of the job
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • How we’d reach the joints

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Signs you need regrouting in Aviemore

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. The grout beneath can stain and weaken, and at that point, new grout is the better answer.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone

Around Aviemore, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

What your quote should include

  • When the joint can take water or movement
  • Is the old sealant removed completely?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What preparation is included
