Bathroom resealing in Inverness, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Inverness. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. If you are dealing with failed sealant on the screen profile and gaps where the bath or tray has moved, we can put it right, whatever the surface.

Around Inverness, we see everything from older flats to family homes on newer estates. The jobs are much the same in all of them: mouldy beads, gaps where a bath has moved and grout that is cracked or stained.

We guarantee the work for a year. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

How to look after the new joints

Good habits help new joints last longer. Our tips:

  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

Do you need bathroom resealing in Inverness?

With age, silicone loses its stretch. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, leaving a thin gap where water and food collect. Hot pans and harsh cleaners don’t help.

The most common problems we see are:

  • Splits where the tray meets the wall
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Leaking joints on a shower screen
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles

If you look after a building such as Inverness High School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.

When something else is needed

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded

If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.

Inverness homes and their sealant

Inverness is within about 2 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

For landlords with property near Inverness station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Inverness (Gaelic: Inbhir Nis) is in Highland. Inverness gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee. We cover 253 towns and villages across Highland, from the larger towns to small villages.

Work in IV2, IV3 and IV1 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. We cover properties on High Street, Market Brae and Falcon Square and the roads around them. Inverness sits on or near the A9 and A82. Nearby, we also carry out bathroom resealing in Ballifeary (1 mile west), Crown (1 mile north-east), Hilton (1 mile south-east), Millburn (1 mile north-east) and Lochardil (1 mile south). Within a short drive, we also cover Nairn (15 miles north-east), Cradlehall (3 miles east), Dingwall (12 miles north-west), Muir of Ord (9 miles west), Fortrose (8 miles north-east) and Conon Bridge (10 miles north-west). Inverness is among the bigger towns we cover in Highland. If you’re somewhere remote, the job takes a little more planning, so let us know when you get in touch.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.

We work for landlords and agents as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order before the next move-in.

How the visit works

You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower for a typical job. A visit in Inverness needs three things planned: access, parking and where the work is. Outside work depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Preparing for the visit

  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Tell us if parking is tricky

Common questions in Inverness

Is Inverness in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Inverness is within the area we cover. Our work covers the whole of Scotland. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.

Do you take on hotel work around Inverness?

Yes, hospitality work, including hotels, is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We work from Crawley. We cover Inverness and the rest of Highland.

How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?

A single bath or shower takes about a couple of hours, including cutting out the old sealant. A full bathroom and kitchen can take most of a day.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Is white the only colour available?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

Do you guarantee your resealing?

Yes. Every job carries our one-year guarantee.

Quotes for bathroom resealing in Inverness

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • When we can work, for business premises

Combining jobs into one visit is normally more efficient than separate visits. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

What to tell us for a quote

When you call or email, it’s useful to know:

  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • A few pictures by email, if you can
  • The rough size of the job

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. Whenever you’re ready, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk.

Can I do it myself?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.
