Questions from Littleferry
Do you cover smaller places like Littleferry?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
I let a flat near Golspie station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Where do you work from?
Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
What information do you need?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
Can you just seal over the old silicone?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.
Do the sealants smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Opening a window helps.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
The surface skins over fairly quickly, but the bead needs longer to cure right through. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.
Are you insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured for every job we do.
About our bathroom resealing in Littleferry
A bead that has gone black, split or come away shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. A photo of the joints helps when you email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. If you’re dealing with new sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, we can put it right, on sinks & splashbacks, baths and shower trays & enclosures alike.
For a place like Littleferry, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

Aftercare tips
Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:
- Don’t leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
Treat the new bead gently when you clean: a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth is enough. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.
A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning usually won’t remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
For landlords and businesses
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will give you a quote.
When something else is needed
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
If you’re not sure, just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
Surfaces we seal
- Basins & vanity units
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Wet rooms
- Baths
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Sinks & splashbacks
DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How easy the joints are to reach
- Which sealant suits the joint
- When we can work, for business premises
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you’re unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
Helping us quote
A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- How we’d reach the joints
If you’re in Littleferry and need bathroom resealing, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk. Tell us what the problem is and where, and we’ll agree the price before any work begins.
How the visit works
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. Most jobs take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. For a place like Littleferry, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking rules near the property
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
Ask for a quote

Surface by surface
Basins & vanity units
On a basin, neatness shows: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, in white, clear or a colour to suit.
Wet rooms
Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.
Littleferry homes and their sealant
Littleferry is within about 1 mile of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
Around Littleferry, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Letting a property close to Golspie station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Littleferry is about 25 miles north of Nairn, in Highland. Our applicators cover bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Littleferry and nearby, as part of our work across Highland. Across Highland, we cover 253 places, Littleferry among them.
