Bathroom resealing in Corry

Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. We’re often asked to deal with leaking joints on a shower screen and gaps where the bath or tray has moved, across basins & vanity units, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Where a building moves, cracked grout and split sealant are normally the first signs.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Highland.

Can I do it myself?

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, like a short, easy-to-reach joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

Your quote is based on your job. We look at:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • How easy the joints are to reach
  • Which sealant suits the joint

A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, as water and mould keep getting in. If you’re unsure, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk for an honest opinion and a quote.

Asking for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the property is
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • A few photos by email, if you can

To get a quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us where the job is and what the problem looks like. You will have a clear quote before work begins.

The process

There is not much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. In smaller Scottish places, parking is normally less of an issue than access and distance. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Bathrooms and kitchens in Corry

Corry is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Private landlords in Scotland must be registered and meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

Homes close to Broadford Parish Church include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. In and around Corry, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.

Corry is in Highland. Whether you’re in the middle of Corry or further out, bathroom resealing is available for homes and businesses alike, from flats and houses to offices and hotels. Corry is one of 253 places in Highland where we work.

Landlord and commercial work in Corry

From a single let to a portfolio, the work is the same standard: the old material taken out, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee.

Mouldy or split sealant often shows up at the end of a tenancy. Several properties can be quoted together.

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, especially under a shower. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.

Wet rooms

Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.

Leave it or put it right?

Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.

No two jobs are quite the same, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part.

Why Corry customers choose us

Common questions in Corry

Is Corry in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Corry is part of that. You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Corry?

Yes. Corry is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across all of Scotland. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

Allow around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. We will confirm how long your job needs when we quote.

Can landlords and businesses book you?

Yes. We work for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, businesses and hotels in Corry.

Will you leave a mess?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured.

How do I get a quote for bathroom resealing in Corry?

We do not publish prices, because the cost depends on the job: how much there is, what’s there now, how we reach it and what it needs. We agree the price before any work begins.

When it isn’t the sealant

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly before booking.
