Forss Bathroom Resealing
Professional bathroom resealing in and around Forss, with old sealant always removed completely and a 12-month guarantee.
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
When something else is needed
Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
Not sure which it is? You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Forss
It isn’t only bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints all take splashes every day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. If you’re dealing with black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
For a place like Forss, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, in Forss and everywhere else we cover.

Leave it or put it right?
A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that is a far bigger job than a reseal. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear quote before work begins.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- Any mould that needs treating
- Working hours on commercial sites
- The number and length of the joints
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Helping us quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The problem you’ve noticed
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
Want a quote for bathroom resealing? Please email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and tell us about the job. You will know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
Mould needs damp, so keep the room aired. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
Watch for the early signs: lifting ends, gaps, dark shadows under the bead or a stain downstairs. Any of these means the joint needs attention.

The process
You do not need to clear the whole room or building, just the space around the work. We protect the rest, and the job takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower for a typical job. Outside jobs in Forss need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so external jobs may need to move if the day turns wet. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

Related advice
Can I do it myself?
A careful DIYer can reseal a simple joint, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.
Bathroom resealing in Forss: local notes
Forss is within about 2 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black.
Around Forss, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Letting a property close to Thurso station? Then mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Forss is about 4 miles west of Thurso, in Highland. Our applicators cover bathroom resealing for householders, landlords and businesses in Forss and the surrounding area, as part of our work across Highland. Our Highland coverage runs to 253 places, Forss among them.
