Bathroom resealing in Cromdale
Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. Just email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a photo of the joints, and you’ll get a clear quote for bathroom resealing in Cromdale. Typical jobs include water getting behind the bath panel and leaking joints on a shower screen, on sinks & splashbacks, kitchen worktops & upstands and wet rooms.
A bathroom in a place like Cromdale gets the same daily wear as one in a city flat. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.
Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Surface by surface
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so we fill it with water before sealing. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and is not torn the first time it’s used.
How the visit works
On the day, we look over the joints with you first. We protect the surfaces around the joints before any work begins. The work generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Outside jobs in Cromdale need a dry day, because sealant will not bond to a wet joint, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- The joint is left to dry, and baths are filled with water first.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Advice
Common questions in Cromdale
Can you do bathroom resealing in Cromdale?
Yes, Cromdale is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Cromdale?
All our work, in Cromdale and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we are part of it.
How much does bathroom resealing cost in Cromdale?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. For a quick quote, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
When can I use the bath or shower again?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Leave it around 24 hours before it gets wet, or follow the cure time we give you.
Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?
Yes. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.
Is white the only colour available?
White and clear are the most common choices, but other colours can be used to suit tiles and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.
How we quote for bathroom resealing
For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How much there is to do
- The type of sealant required
- How easy the joints are to reach
We don’t show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.
What we need to know
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Roughly how big the job is
- A few pictures by email, if you can
We quote each job on its own, so start by telling us what you need. Simply email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and describe the job, and pictures are welcome.
Signs you need bathroom resealing in Cromdale
Sealing over old silicone is one of the commonest mistakes we find. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
In and around Cromdale, as anywhere, good bathroom resealing starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is the old sealant removed completely?
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- What preparation is included
- How the colour is chosen
Can I do it myself?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
When something else is needed
It helps to know what we cannot do too:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.
Surfaces we seal
- Wet rooms
- Basins & vanity units
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Baths
- Sinks & splashbacks

What else we do in Cromdale
Bathroom resealing in Cromdale: local notes
Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. Mould is another matter: a bathroom that stays damp still turns sealant and grout black. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which covers keeping fixtures and fittings in a reasonable state of repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.
If you live in an older home near Cromdale Parish Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
