Fearn Bathroom Resealing
Bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing for householders, landlords and businesses in Fearn. ARBOMaster approved applicators, fully insured, with a 12-month guarantee.
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
Bathroom resealing in Fearn, done properly
The bead of silicone around a bath, tray or worktop is what keeps water out of the gaps. When it splits, shrinks or turns black, water gets behind it and into the wall or floor. Every trace of the old sealant is taken out and replaced with anti-fungal sanitary silicone. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and the jobs we see most are water getting behind the bath panel and splits where the tray meets the wall.
For a place like Fearn, the job is the same as anywhere: everything old is cut out, the joints are cleaned and dried, and new sealant or grout goes in. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Fearn
Do you cover Fearn for bathroom resealing?
Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Fearn is part of that. Just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.
Is Fearn within the area you cover?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across all of Scotland. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. We always take the old sealant out completely.
Is it worth trying it myself?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a short description of the job.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us and we’re fully insured.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in.
Which products do you use?
It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
How the visit works
Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is and we leave things clean and tidy. Somewhere like Fearn may be a longer drive, and the journey is planned ahead. Tell us about tracks, gates, a ferry crossing or anything unusual about getting there.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.
Getting ready for the visit
- Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- Mention any tricky access

Related advice
Leave it or put it right?
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: cutting out every trace of the old bead, cleaning, treating mould and letting the joint dry. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early. Around Fearn, water from a failed joint in an older stone home can soak into timber and plaster.
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
Why us?
- You choose the colour before work begins
- Tidy, careful work
- We never seal over old sealant
- Colour picked to suit the job

What we’re called out for in Fearn
Silicone does not last for ever. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.
Common reasons people contact us include:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Damp behind the bath or under the tray
- Gaps between the worktop and the wall
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
If you let a flat or house near Fearn station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.
What to look for in a quote
- What insurance they hold
- How much experience the applicator has
- Is VAT in the price?
- When the joint can take water or movement
Different surfaces, different methods
Wet rooms
Wet rooms rely on sound joints at floor and wall junctions. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, working on the surface joints, not the tanking or drainage.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line does not stand out.

Bathroom resealing around Fearn
Fearn is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that doesn’t dry out.
Around Fearn, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

What sealant work can’t fix
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
- Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
Not sure which it is? You can email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will tell you honestly.
