Bathroom resealing in Clachamish, done properly

Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Clachamish. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on baths, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about splits where the tray meets the wall and black spots spreading through the bead.

Bathrooms in smaller places like Clachamish work just as hard as those in the cities. Generally soft Scottish water means less limescale, but steam still lets mould into sealant and grout.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Aftercare tips

So the new joints stay in good condition:

  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Keep bottles off the sealant line
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is normally around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Clachamish

Clachamish is close to the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Tired, leaking sealant is worth putting right before a new tenant moves in.

Around Clachamish, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it. Whether the job is in Clachamish itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Clachamish is in Highland. Jobs in Clachamish get the same care as everywhere else we work: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. We cover 253 towns and villages across Highland, large and small.

Our applicators cover all of the IV51 postcode area for bathroom resealing. Other places close to Clachamish include An t-Aodann Ban (3 miles south-west), Uig (7 miles north), Lonmore (8 miles south-west), Kilmuir (9 miles south-west) and Dunvegan (9 miles south-west). Why it’s worth doing now in Clachamish

Bleach and mould sprays may lighten black marks for a while, but where mould is inside the silicone it usually comes back. Cutting it out and resealing with anti-fungal silicone is the fix that lasts. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.

Leaving a failed joint usually makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will give you an honest view and a quote.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Clachamish

Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Clachamish?

All our work, in Clachamish and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Clachamish?

Yes. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and Clachamish is part of that. Just send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk with a few details of the job.

Do you work for letting agents?

Yes. We work in homes, commercial premises and hotels.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Do I need to be at home?

Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

Most people choose white or clear, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.

Are you insured?

Yes. We’re fully insured.

Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?

No, never. Sealing over the top looks fine for a few weeks, then lifts. We remove the old bead completely before resealing.

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Honest limits

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant cannot fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support

If in doubt, send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we seal

  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

What we do, step by step

We bring everything the job needs with us. Once we have agreed what’s being done, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Around Clachamish, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints.

  1. We look at every joint first and check for movement or leaks.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
