Bathroom resealing in Inverasdale

The secret of a lasting bead is the preparation. The old sealant is removed to the last smear, after which the joint is degreased and any mould treated. Only once it’s dry does the new bead go on. If you’re dealing with a joint torn by a bath that flexes and gaps between the worktop and the wall, we can help, whatever the surface.

Across smaller places in Scotland, homes range from stone and harled cottages to newer houses. Older buildings can move a little, and that shows first in cracked grout and split sealant.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, whatever its size.

Inverasdale homes and their sealant

Inverasdale is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. In Scotland, private landlords have to meet the Repairing Standard, which includes keeping fixtures and fittings in reasonable repair. Failed sealant around a bath or shower is worth sorting between tenancies.

Around Inverasdale, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Inverasdale is in Highland. Whether you’re in the middle of Inverasdale or further out, we cover bathroom resealing for every kind of property, from flats and houses to offices and hotels. Inverasdale is one of 253 towns and villages in Highland we cover for bathroom resealing.

We work across IV22 for bathroom resealing. Being close to the B8057, Inverasdale is simple for us to get to for bathroom resealing. Neighbouring places we cover for bathroom resealing include Àird (3 miles north-east), Aultbea (4 miles north-east), Poolewe (4 miles south-east), Gairloch (6 miles south) and Laide (6 miles north-east). Do you need bathroom resealing in Inverasdale?

No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner slowly wear it down, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead
  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt

Whether the job is in Inverasdale itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish.

Questions to ask before booking

  • The length of the guarantee
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • Whether the sealant suits the joint
  • Who turns up on the day

Our hiring checklist

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

We quote each job individually. These are the things that affect it:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • How easy the joints are to reach

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Helping us quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height

There’s no standard price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

What we do, step by step

Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it usually takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower. Around Inverasdale, distance and access matter more than parking. Let us know how to find you and how to reach the joints, and the visit is planned around that.

  1. We protect the area and cut out all of the old sealant.
  2. Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
  3. Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
  4. New anti-fungal silicone goes on in a colour to suit and is tooled to a clean finish.
  5. We tidy up and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Tell us if parking is tricky
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

Basin joints are short and close to eye level: so we keep the line tidy and even, in white, clear or a colour to suit.

Sinks & splashbacks

The edge of an inset sink is a common place for water to get under the worktop. Where the sealant around the visible edge has failed, we renew it.

Honest limits

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, email us at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we seal

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Sinks & splashbacks
