Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Torridon
Kitchens need the same care as bathrooms. Worktop upstands, sink edges and splashback joints get wet every single day, and water that gets into the back edge of a worktop can swell the board. Kitchen joints get a sealant suited to kitchens, colour-matched where it shows. We are often asked to deal with lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and a joint torn by a bath that flexes, across basins & vanity units, baths and sinks & splashbacks.
Bathrooms in smaller places like Torridon work just as hard as those in the cities. Limescale is less of a problem with Scotland’s generally soft water, but mould still takes hold in damp sealant and grout.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

Different surfaces, different methods
Sinks & splashbacks
Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.
Baths
Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.
FAQs for Torridon
Is there a guarantee on bathroom resealing in Torridon?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Is Torridon within the area you cover?
Yes, Torridon is covered. Our work covers the whole of Scotland, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Getting it wet too early can spoil the new joint.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status and we are fully insured too.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes, always, and completely. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Will there be a smell?
Some sealants have a smell while they cure, but it fades. Ventilation helps.
What do you need from me for a quote?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few pictures.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so the bead comes out, the joint is treated and new anti-fungal silicone goes in.
What we can’t put right
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
If in doubt, drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and we will say what we think.

How the visit works
Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If we find something unexpected, we talk it through with you first. Most jobs then take around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom. Outdoor work around Torridon depends on the weather, as sealant needs a dry surface, so an outdoor job can move if the forecast changes. Indoor work goes ahead whatever the weather.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Let us know about parking restrictions
- Move anything stored near the joints

What bathroom resealing looks like in Torridon
Torridon is within about 1 mile of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Scotland’s water is generally soft, so sealant and grout see less limescale than in much of England. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
Whether the job is in Torridon itself or nearby, the right material for each joint matters as much as a neat finish. Around Torridon, as everywhere, bathroom resealing is only as good as the preparation behind it.
Torridon is in Highland. Homes, rented property, offices and hotels in Torridon can book us for bathroom resealing. Every job comes with our one-year guarantee. Torridon is one of 253 towns and villages in Highland we cover for bathroom resealing.

Leave it or put it right?
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Without that preparation, the new bead won’t last. Out of town in Scotland, exposed walls take a lot of weather, and damp in stone or harled walls takes a long time to dry once water gets behind a joint.
Rather than a set price list, we look at what your job involves: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You’ll know the price before we begin.
Why us?
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas
- Any old sealant cut out fully, not covered over
- White, clear, grey or coloured to suit, where the product allows
- A sealant colour to suit the surroundings

Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
Have a look at the joints every few months. A small split or a corner lifting is easy to spot, and if anything looks wrong, just drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
