Regrouting in Torridon, Highland
Specialist regrouting for Torridon: the right sealant, proper preparation and a neat finish. Call for a quick quote.
- Grout in corners that has cracked
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
Regrouting in Torridon
Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. With regrouting, the tiles stay and only the grout is renewed, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. If you have greasy, stained grout behind the hob and gaps where the shower grout has gone, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
Being further from a city doesn’t change the work: old material out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh, even finish. The journey and access are simply planned in advance.

What sealant work cannot fix
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A leaking wet room membrane
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
Not sure which it is? You can send an email to info@mrmastic.co.uk and we’ll tell you honestly.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Shower walls
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom floors
For landlords and businesses
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, the work is the same standard: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
We work for landlords and letting agents as well as homeowners. Sealant work between tenants keeps a property looking cared for.
How it works
On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work starts. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For a place like Torridon, longer drives are planned in advance. Mention tracks, gates, ferries or anything else about the route.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- Fresh grout goes into the joints and the tile faces are wiped clean.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
How to prepare
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
- Clear items away from the joints we’re working on

Advice
Can I do it myself?
Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.
Why deal with it now?
Patching a few joints can look like a quick win, but the patches often do not match, and the old grout keeps failing around them. Regrouting the whole area gives an even, lasting finish. Exposed walls in smaller Scottish places take a lot of wind and rain, and once water gets behind a failed joint, damp in stone or harled walls is slow to dry out.
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.

How the job changes by surface
Corners and edges
Edges are resealed while we’re there, so the whole area is finished together.
Kitchen splashbacks
The grout by the hob and sink takes most of the mess. We renew the grout and the worktop sealant.
How to look after the new joints
Looking after new joints is easy:
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
Give the new grout the time we tell you before using the shower, so it cures fully. After that, rinse the tiles after showering and keep the room ventilated.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
Torridon questions
Is regrouting in Torridon guaranteed?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Can you do regrouting in Torridon?
Yes, Torridon is within the area we cover. We work across all of Scotland. You can drop us a line at info@mrmastic.co.uk and let us know what needs doing.
Do you grout the corners?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They flex and grout can’t take that movement.
How long does the job take?
Typically it takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Larger jobs naturally take longer.
Are you insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, with over 20 years’ experience in sealant work.
Is it possible to regrout only the shower area?
Yes. We will check the other tiled areas as well and tell you if anything else needs attention.
Do I need to be at home?
For indoor joints, yes, someone needs to let us in. Once we have agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.
How much does regrouting cost in Torridon?
There’s no set price, as it depends on the job: its size, the old material, access and the product needed. You’ll get a clear quote before work begins.
What regrouting looks like in Torridon
Torridon is close to the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, and sealant and grout that work that hard wear out sooner. Scottish Water supplies are generally soft, so limescale is less of a problem than in hard-water areas. But mould still grows into sealant and grout in a room that does not dry out.
In and around Torridon, as anywhere, good regrouting starts with a clean, dry, properly prepared joint. For jobs in and around Torridon, choosing the right material for each joint is as important as a tidy finish.
Torridon is in Highland. From the centre of Torridon to the outskirts, we cover regrouting for every kind of property. Torridon is one of 253 places in Highland where we work for regrouting.
