Mastic and sealant work in Surrey

Our bathroom resealing service in Surrey

Across Surrey, the joints we reseal are the ones that fail in any home: bath edges, tray joints, basin backs and kitchen upstands. Every joint is cut out, cleaned and left dry before it’s resealed. We work on sinks & splashbacks, shower trays & enclosures and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are water escaping at the shower enclosure and a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal.

There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us the job and we will take it from there. The work itself takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. The joint is finished neatly and we explain when it can get wet.

Pricing in Surrey

Instead of a standard rate, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. The price is agreed before we begin.

Getting a quote

Want a quote for bathroom resealing? Please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details. We will explain what we’d do and give you a clear quote before work begins.

Landmarks near Guildford

We work in homes and buildings around Surrey Maths School, Sandfield Primary School and Guildford High School and the streets around them. Nearby too are Church of St John the Evangelist (less than half a mile east), Stoke Park (under half a mile east) and The King's Head pub (less than half a mile south-east). The nearest railway station is London Road (Guildford) station, about 0.6 miles south-east of the centre. A little further out are Guildford Castle (0.9 miles south) and Guildford House (0.8 miles south). Open spaces near Guildford include Silent Pool and Pewley Hill.

Where we work in Surrey

From Guildford, Woking and Camberley to its smaller places, homes across Surrey have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings. Whatever the job in Surrey, surfaces are cleaned back properly before new sealant goes in.

Guildford: Homes close to Church of St John the Evangelist include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Schools such as Sandfield Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
  • Which sealant suits the joint
  • When we can work, for business premises

Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller. If you are unsure, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

What to tell us for a quote

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:

  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • The type of property
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

If you’re in Surrey and need bathroom resealing, call 0345 464 0079 or email us. Tell us what the problem is and where, and you will get a clear quote before we start.

How the job changes by surface

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line doesn’t stand out.

Wet rooms

A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Where grout in a corner has cracked, we can replace it with sealant.

Landlord and commercial work in Surrey

If you manage several properties in or around Surrey, jobs at different addresses can go on one quote. Send us the addresses and the work at each, and photos by email help.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:

  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Never pick at the silicone with a blade
  • Run the extractor fan during and after every shower

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, as they hold water against it. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.

Do not wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.

Honest limits

Sealant isn’t the answer to every problem, and we will tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
  • A cracked shower tray or bath (that needs repair or replacement)
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Surrey

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We’ve worked for hotels, offices and other businesses.

Do you come to Surrey?

We do. Surrey is part of the area we cover.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

How long will the resealing take?

That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.

Are you fully insured?

Yes. Mr Mastic is fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.

Can I do it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
