About our bathroom resealing in Old Dean

Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with a photo of the joints, and we will send you a clear quote before any work starts. We’re often asked to deal with cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone and splits where the tray meets the wall, on basins & vanity units, shower trays & enclosures and wet rooms.

Smaller places like Old Dean still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

We guarantee the work for a year. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Old Dean

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you let a flat or house near Camberley station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. Schools such as Collingwood College are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. If you live in an older home near St Martin's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

Old Dean is about 1 mile north-east of Camberley, in Surrey. We provide bathroom resealing to homeowners, landlords and businesses in Old Dean and nearby, as part of our work across Surrey. Our Surrey coverage runs to 395 places, Old Dean among them. You can also see our page for Reading, about 13 miles away.

All of GU15 and GU19 is within our area for bathroom resealing, from the main roads to the quietest streets. The process

We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. Expect the work to take around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. A visit to Old Dean is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Why deal with it now?

Dealing with sealant early is a short job: the work takes a morning or an afternoon for most single baths and showers. Wait for a leak and you may be looking at panels off, drying out and redecorating too. Homes in smaller places like Old Dean can face more weather, and failed outside joints let damp into walls. Inside, a split seal lets water into floors and panels just as it would anywhere.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we’ll go through it with you.

What we can’t put right

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:

  • Cracks in the tray itself rather than the joint
  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

What we seal

  • Baths
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Wet rooms
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Sinks & splashbacks

What the job involves on each surface

Shower trays & enclosures

There are normally two jobs in a shower: the tray-to-wall joint and the enclosure joints. Both take water every day, so each is cut out and renewed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Wet rooms

A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the corners need a flexible seal, not grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Clean with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft cloth
  • Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then

Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.

Don’t wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
