Bathroom resealing for Frimley homes and businesses

Frimley homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you live in an older home near St. Peter's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you let a flat or house near Frimley station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Frimley is about 1 mile south of Camberley, in Surrey. Frimley gets the same service as everywhere we cover: old sealant removed completely, careful preparation and a 12-month guarantee. 395 places in Surrey are on our list. You can also see our page for Reading, about 14 miles away.

Postcode districts we cover here for bathroom resealing: GU16 and GU15. You’ll find streets such as Church Road, Frimley High Street and Station Road, all of which we cover. Frimley sits on or near the A325 and B311, which makes travel easy. Other places close to Frimley include Frimley Green (1 mile south), Deepcut (1 mile east), Camberley (1 mile north), Watchmoor (2 miles north-west) and York Town (2 miles north-west). Bathroom resealing in Frimley, done properly

Sealant that is mouldy, cracked or peeling shouldn’t be left until there’s a leak. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a photo of the joints, and you’ll get a clear quote before any work starts. We work on baths, kitchen worktops & upstands and basins & vanity units, and the jobs we see most are two layers of silicone, both failing and smears of silicone across the tiles.

Most bathrooms in a town like Frimley are in family homes, used every day, which is hard on sealant and grout. Black mould along the bath, a lifting bead by the sink or crumbling grout in the shower are the usual signs.

Every job is covered by a 12-month guarantee.

When it isn’t the sealant

New sealant cannot fix everything, and we’d rather say so up front. It won’t solve:

  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think before you book.

How it works

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. Typically it takes a couple of hours for a single bath or shower and we leave things clean and tidy. For a job in Frimley, we need access to where the work is and somewhere nearby to park. For outside work, let us know about side access, gates and any upper-floor joints.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

When to call us in Frimley

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
  • A reseal done over the top of the old bead

If you look after a building such as Lakeside Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What to look for in a quote

  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • How the colour is chosen
  • What the cure time is

Why deal with it now?

A clean new bead makes a room look cared for, which helps when a home is being let or put on the market. Lumpy sealant with smears on the tiles has the opposite effect. In Frimley, as anywhere, most leaks start as a small gap in a joint, and early is when they’re cheapest and quickest to sort.

Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.

What the job involves on each surface

Basins & vanity units

Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so the joint is sealed in one unbroken line.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Worktop joints get wet and wiped every day. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop, so the line does not stand out.

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Where do you work from?

We are based in Crawley, and we work across South East England, London and Scotland.

Can I do it myself?

It depends on the job. High-level, external movement and fire-rated joints are professional jobs.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes. Commercial and hotel work is a large part of what we do, as well as homes. Working times can be discussed when we quote.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes. More than one area can be quoted together.

What colours of sealant can you use?

White, clear and a range of colours are available. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:

  • Squeegee the walls and tray after use
  • Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
  • Dry worktop joints after washing up
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing

Check the sealant now and then. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, and if anything looks wrong, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning generally will not remove it, and nearby grout often goes the same way. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.

Can I do it myself?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
