Bathroom resealing in Kingsley Green

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Mouldy silicone makes even a new bathroom look neglected, and a neat new joint puts that right in a short visit. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. We’re often asked to deal with leaking joints on a shower screen and splits where the tray meets the wall, across sinks & splashbacks, shower trays & enclosures and baths.

Being in a small place like Kingsley Green makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we are there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

DIY versus a professional finish

Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.

Aftercare tips

Looking after new joints is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Dry the bead with a towel now and then
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
  • Don’t let bottles sit on the bead
  • Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints

Don’t stand bottles along the bead, because they trap water against the silicone. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

FAQs for Kingsley Green

Is Kingsley Green in your area for bathroom resealing?

Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Kingsley Green is part of that. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear quote.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Haslemere station?

Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.

What should I tell you?

Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. If you can, email a few pictures.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. The old sealant is cut out and the joint degreased, because cooking grease stops silicone sticking, then we reseal in a colour to suit.

How long does the new silicone need before I use the shower?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.

Will it make a mess?

No. We protect the surfaces around the joints, and we tidy up before we go.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.

Should I try DIY first?

That depends on the joint. Work at height, movement joints, fire-rated gaps and large areas are best left to a professional.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Kingsley Green

Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they crack, discolour or grow mould quickly. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:

  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
  • Water escaping at the shower enclosure
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand

Managing a site like Fernhurst Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

10 questions to ask before you book

What we do, step by step

Every visit runs the same way: we check the joints, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. Most jobs take two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. Somewhere like Kingsley Green needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
  3. We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
  4. Any bath is filled with water, then we lay a bead of anti-fungal silicone in white, clear or a matching colour.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Advice

How the job changes by surface

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Water behind a laminate worktop can make the edge swell. A continuous bead along the back keeps water out.

How we quote for bathroom resealing

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • How many areas need sealing
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any mould that needs treating

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. We take all of that into account in your quote.

Helping us quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. When you get in contact, it helps to mention:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Photos by email, if that’s easy
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • The type of property

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. Whenever you are ready, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Kingsley Green homes and their sealant

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

For an older house near a landmark such as The Parish Church of St Margaret, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Rented homes near Haslemere station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Leave it or put it right?

A failed joint gets more costly to put right the longer it’s left. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, and that’s a far bigger job than a reseal. Around Kingsley Green, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, and water through a failed joint can rot timber if it’s left.

Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.
