Bathroom Resealing in Fetcham
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Fetcham? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, with a 12-month guarantee.
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes

- Water getting behind the bath panel
Fetcham homes and their sealant
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near Church of St. Mary, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. For landlords with property near Leatherhead station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Oakfield Junior School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Fetcham
Before a bath is sealed, it’s filled with water. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the bead is not stretched the first time someone gets in. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. Typical jobs include damp behind the bath or under the tray and sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away, across baths, basins & vanity units and wet rooms.
Even in a smaller place like Fetcham, bathrooms and kitchens see heavy daily use. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

What the job involves on each surface
Shower trays & enclosures
A tray that rocks will split any sealant. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.
Wet rooms
Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
How to look after the new joints
How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:
- Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.
Watch for the early signs: a corner lifting, a gap behind the bead, a dark line under the silicone or a damp patch on the ceiling below. Any of these means the joint needs attention.
Why deal with it now?
A quick bead over the top of the old one might look better for a while, but it can’t stick to what’s underneath. Water creeps under it and mould follows. In an older home around Fetcham, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that is a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

DIY versus a professional finish
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
What happens on the day
When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before we start. The work usually takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is. In a smaller place like Fetcham, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed

Advice
How we quote for bathroom resealing
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How many areas need sealing
- The product the joint needs
- Access and height
Doing several joints on one visit is generally more efficient than separate visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. We will send you a clear quote for the lot.
What we need to know
To make quoting easier, please include:
- The rough size of the job
- The type of property
- If someone has resealed it before
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and email photos if that’s easy.
When something else is needed
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
- Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think.
