Bathroom & kitchen resealing in Stroude, Surrey
Problem with your baths, showers and worktops in Stroude? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
Surface by surface
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
Shower trays & enclosures
Water often gets past the wall profile of a shower enclosure. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, following the enclosure maker’s guidance on which side to seal.
How we handle bathroom resealing in Stroude
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across Stroude. We’re fully insured ARBOMaster approved applicators, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. If you are dealing with shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop and a bead that has pulled away from the tiles, we can help, on sinks & splashbacks, baths and shower trays & enclosures alike.
Somewhere as small as Stroude, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
A 12-month guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

What happens if it’s left?
Mould removers can fade the surface of a stained bead, but where mould is inside the silicone it normally comes back. The lasting answer is to remove the bead and start again. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Stroude, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
There are no prices on our website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Should I try it myself first?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so tell us about it when you ask for a quote.
What sealant work can’t fix
We will not take on work that will not last, so these are the limits:
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
If in doubt, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.
What we seal
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
Landlord and commercial work in Stroude
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
Whether it’s one flat or a portfolio, you get the same standard of work: old sealant fully removed, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.
Looking after it afterwards
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
- Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Run the extractor fan during and after a shower, so the bead dries out between uses.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, where it can make the board swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
Common questions in Stroude
Can you do bathroom resealing in Stroude?
Yes, Stroude is within the area we cover. We work across London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job.
Do you work for landlords with property near Virginia Water station?
Yes, we work for landlords and agents. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
Where do you work from?
We’re a Crawley-based firm, with over 20 years’ experience. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
Most people choose white or clear, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Tell us what you’d like when you get in touch.
Do the sealants smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.
Will the old sealant be removed?
Yes, always, and completely. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.
Can new silicone go straight over the old?
No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.
What happens on the day
At the end, we look at the finished work together and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself normally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen, depending on the size of the job. Somewhere as small as Stroude, access is often the only tricky part. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
- We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any tricky access
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

What bathroom resealing looks like in Stroude
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you let a flat or house near Virginia Water station, fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay. Homes close to Christ Church include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. If you look after a building such as St Ann's Heath Junior School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
