Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Hoe
Homes in Hoe have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. Common call-outs are for gaps where the bath or tray has moved and gaps between the worktop and the wall, on kitchen worktops & upstands, baths and wet rooms.
Being in a small place like Hoe makes no difference to the job itself: it just means planning the journey and access beforehand. Once we’re there, the bathroom or kitchen gets the same care as anywhere else.
All our work is covered by our 12-month guarantee.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Hoe
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you live in an older home near Church of St Mark, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. If you let a flat or house near Gomshall station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Hoe is about 5 miles west of Dorking, in Surrey. Hoe gets the same service as everywhere we cover: the old material taken out, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee. Hoe is one of 395 towns and villages in Surrey we cover. We also work in Crawley, around 13 miles away.
Work in GU5 works the same way as everywhere else we cover. We cover properties on Fulvens, Pursers Lane and Crest Hill and the roads around them. Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again, so just mention it when you contact us.
What happens on the day
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take a couple of hours for a single bath or shower, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. For a village or hamlet like Hoe, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you are told the cure time, generally around 24 hours.
Before we arrive
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks

Advice
Different surfaces, different methods
Baths
Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.
What else we do in Hoe
What affects the cost of bathroom resealing
Every job gets its own quote. This is what makes a difference:
- Which sealant suits the joint
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- Access and height
What you pay reflects the work, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first and give you a clear price before work begins.
Helping us quote
When you contact us, these details help:
- Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
- A few photos by email, if you can
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Let us know the location, the problem and roughly how many joints, and email photos if that’s easy.
Looking after it afterwards
Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:
- Squeegee the walls and tray after use
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Move toiletries away from the joint
- Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead
Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Avoid scouring pads and anything sharp, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
When it is not the sealant
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- A tray or bath that is cracked through
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
Not sure which it is? You can call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Your questions about bathroom resealing in Hoe
Can you do bathroom resealing in Hoe?
Yes, Hoe is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
Can you help a landlord with a rental near Gomshall station?
Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we will send you a clear quote.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
How long will the resealing take?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. For most single baths or showers, allow a couple of hours.
Should I try DIY first?
Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it does not work out, we can redo it.
What do you put in the joint?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Airing the room well helps stop it returning.
Do the sealants smell?
It depends on the product. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.
