What we’re called out for in Wentworth

Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Soap residue, oils and leftover silicone film all get in the way, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

Any of these means the joints need attention:

  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away

For an older house near a landmark such as Christ Church, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are

Bathroom resealing in Wentworth: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

If you let a flat or house near Longcross station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you look after a building such as Christ Church CofE Aided Infant School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

When it is not the sealant

It helps to know what we cannot do:

  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Water getting in through the grout rather than the sealant
  • A leaking waste, trap or valve

Wentworth: your questions answered

I let a flat near Longcross station. Can you help?

Yes, rental work is part of what we do. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and a few details, and we will give you a fixed price before we start.

Do you cover Wentworth for bathroom resealing?

Yes, Wentworth is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we will give you a clear quote.

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. ARBOMaster is the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants, and we’re part of it.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

Do I have to be there?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. For inside work, that normally means someone being in.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Wentworth?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Combining jobs makes good use of the visit, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Generally after around 24 hours. You’ll get the exact cure time before we leave.

What the job involves on each surface

Baths

Acrylic baths flex the most, while steel and cast iron baths move less but still settle when full. Loading the bath with water before sealing allows for it.

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, because cooking grease stops sealant bonding. Proper degreasing is what helps the new joint last.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The product the joint needs
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove

A few things move the cost up or down: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, any mould to treat, and whether the work is at height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Asking for a quote

What to tell us when you ask for a quote:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • A few photos by email, if you can
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work
  • What’s wrong with the joints now

Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work and send you a clear quote.

Work for landlords, hotels and businesses

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too in Wentworth and across Surrey. We can quote a run of properties together.

How it works

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and the area is left clean. Somewhere as small as Wentworth, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height

Getting a quote

Advice

How to look after the new joints

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Check the joints every few months for splits or lifting

Wipe up standing water along the worktop joint and keep hot pans off the bead. A dry joint lasts longer.

Don’t wait for a refit to deal with failed sealant. Like paintwork, sealant needs renewing from time to time, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
