About bathroom resealing in Hertfordshire
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Hertfordshire. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about mouldy sealant that has gone black and failed sealant on the screen profile.
Every visit runs the same way: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and clear up. It generally takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
How we quote
Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
What you get with us

- We never seal over old sealant
- Anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas

How to get a quote
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
Around Watford
Typical jobs here are in homes near The Estcourt Arms, Watford St John's Church of England Primary School and Church of St Andrew. Nearby too are Cassiobury Park (0.8 miles west) and The Watford UTC (0.5 miles east). There’s a railway station in Watford itself: Watford Junction station. Other landmarks nearby include Hilfield Castle (2.8 miles east) and Charter Place (0.5 miles south). For a walk, there’s Harrow Weald Common.
Bathroom resealing across Hertfordshire: local notes
In Hertfordshire, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, from Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Stevenage to the quieter places in between. The method is the same everywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.
From Victorian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates, homes across the South East and London cover every era. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building, wherever it is in Hertfordshire.
Watford: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Watford St John's Church of England Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Homes close to Church of St Andrew include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
Landlord and commercial work in Hertfordshire
Hotels need rooms back in use, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.
Keeping the joints in good condition
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
- Wipe the sealant dry after showering
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, because they trap water against the silicone. A quick squeegee after showering helps the joint dry.
Worktop joints fail quietly. Splashes run behind the back edge and soak into the worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.
What happens if it’s left?
Tired sealant is not a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is usually all it takes, provided the bath, tray and tiles are in good order. If we find a deeper problem, you will hear it from us.
Questions to ask before you book
- What insurance they hold
- What happens if the job turns out different
- Which colour the sealant will be
- How the surfaces are prepared before sealing
Common problems we fix in Hertfordshire
No sealant lasts indefinitely. Every shower, every splash and every wipe with a cleaner take their toll over the years, so its life depends on how the room is used, cleaned and aired.
Any of these means the joints need attention:
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
- Smears of silicone across the tiles
What affects the quote in Hertfordshire
You will get a clear quote before any work starts. It’s based on:
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
- Access and height
- The size of the job
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
Doing several joints on one visit usually makes better use of the time than several visits, so tell us about everything that needs sealing. You’ll get one clear quote for the whole job.
What to tell us for a quote
To make quoting easier, let us know:
- The address or postcode of the job
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Whether it has been sealed before
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Describe what needs sealing and we’ll talk you through the work before giving you a price.
Common questions in Hertfordshire
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. Kitchen joints get extra degreasing before the new bead goes on, then we reseal in a colour to suit.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No, and it’s one of the main reasons reseals fail. The old joint is stripped, cleaned and resealed from scratch.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Our one-year guarantee covers every job, and we are fully insured.
Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Sprays can fade the marks, but cutting it out and resealing is what lasts. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
Is there any odour?
Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Do you cover Hertfordshire?
Yes. From our base in Crawley, we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or follow the cure time we give you.
