Bathroom Resealing in Adeyfield
Our applicators work in Adeyfield on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old material cut out, joints cleaned and sealed neatly and every job guaranteed for a year.
- Two layers of silicone, both failing
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Black spots spreading through the bead
Surface by surface
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so we fill it with water before sealing. That way the joint is laid with the bath at its heaviest and is not stretched when it’s used.
Shower trays & enclosures
The vertical joint where a screen profile meets the wall is a common leak point. It’s resealed along with the tray joints, sealing the side the enclosure’s instructions call for.
Bathroom resealing in Adeyfield
Homes in Adeyfield have the same weak spots as anywhere else: the long edge of the bath, the base of the shower tray, the back of the basin and the line along the worktop. Each one is stripped, cleaned and dried before new silicone goes in. We work on sinks & splashbacks, wet rooms and baths, and people most often call us about leaks into the floor or ceiling below and a joint torn by a bath that flexes.
In a smaller place like Adeyfield, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do in a big town.
A 12-month guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once the job is done.

Bathroom resealing in Adeyfield: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in. Adeyfield is part of Hemel Hempstead, one of the post-war new towns. Many homes date from the post-war decades, so bathrooms and kitchens may be on their second or third set of sealant. Sealant laid over old sealant never bonds properly, so it all has to come out.
In the older streets around St Barnabas, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant. Rented homes near Apsley station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.
Adeyfield is about 1 mile north-east of Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire. Across the HP2 area, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. Our Hertfordshire coverage runs to 381 places, Adeyfield among them. We also work in London, around 23 miles away.
Work in HP2 and HP3 is quoted and booked the same way as anywhere else. Bathroom resealing is available to properties on Tudor Road, Hardy Road and Great Road. Adeyfield sits on or near the A414, which makes travel easy. Neighbouring places we cover for bathroom resealing include Hemel Hempstead (1 mile south-west), Highfield (1 mile north-west), Grovehill (1 mile west), Woodhall Farm (1 mile west) and Leverstock Green (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cover Watford (7 miles south), St Albans (5 miles east), Welwyn Garden City (11 miles east), Harpenden (6 miles north-east), Hitchin (15 miles north-east) and Hatfield (9 miles east).
Local landmarks in Adeyfield
We work in homes and buildings around Adeyfield School, Gadebridge Park and Rose And Crown Public House, among other places. The nearest railway station is Apsley station, roughly 1.7 miles south. Other landmarks nearby include Hemel Hempstead Hospital (0.9 miles south-west) and Redbourn Museum (3.6 miles north-east). For a walk, there’s Long Deans and Verulamium Lake.
Should I try it myself first?
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. We take joints back to clean, dry surfaces, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, then guaranteed for a year.
Overfilling a joint is a classic DIY mistake. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
Landlords, agents and businesses in Adeyfield
Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works.
Honest limits
In fairness, some problems need a different trade:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we’ll tell you honestly.
What we seal
- Kitchen worktops & upstands
- Wet rooms
- Shower trays & enclosures
- Sinks & splashbacks
- Basins & vanity units
- Baths
Signs you need bathroom resealing in Adeyfield
Mould is the reason many people want their sealant replaced. Bathrooms without good ventilation keep the silicone damp for hours, and once it has grown into the bead, cleaning rarely gets it out.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop
- A joint torn by a bath that flexes
- Leaking joints on a shower screen
- A bead that has pulled away from the tiles
If you look after a building such as Hobletts Manor Infants' School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

What happens on the day
The work is kept neat and contained to the joints we’re treating, so you can carry on as normal. Expect the work to take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. For a job in Adeyfield, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead, including the film left on the tiles.
- Next, the joint is cleaned and any mould is treated.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, normally after around 24 hours.
Getting ready for the visit
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
Getting a quote
Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we’ll talk you through the work before giving you a price.
Advice
Looking after it afterwards
No joint lasts for ever, but care makes a real difference. A few tips:
- Keep bottles off the sealant line
- Wipe up water along the back of the worktop
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Wait for the cure time we give you
In a kitchen, don’t let water sit along the back of the worktop and keep hot pans away from the silicone. A dry joint lasts longer.
Mould that starts as a few spots spreads through the bead. Once it’s deep in the silicone, cleaning normally won’t remove it. Catching it early keeps it a simple reseal.
FAQs for Adeyfield
Do older homes in Adeyfield need their sealant replacing?
In most cases, yes, if it hasn’t been done for a while. Sealant doesn’t last for ever, and its life depends on use, cleaning and weather.
Do you work for landlords with property near Apsley station?
Yes, we work for letting agents and landlords. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and a few details, and we’ll give you a fixed price before we start.
Where are you based?
We’re a Crawley-based firm. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
Can I choose the colour of the sealant?
We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. Where the joint is on show, we match it to the surface.
Do I need to be at home?
Access is agreed with you when the job is booked. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.
Can you do several jobs on one visit?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
What should I tell you?
The location, the problem and the rough size of the job. If you can, email a few photos.
