Bathroom Resealing in Nash Mills

Our applicators work in Nash Mills on bath, shower, basin, wet room, worktop and sink resealing. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and a 12-month guarantee.

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Two layers of silicone, both failing
  • Black spots spreading through the bead

Aftercare tips

Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Wait for the cure time we give you
  • Keep scourers and sharp tools away from the bead

Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, because a damaged bead gives mould a foothold.

Worktop joints fail quietly. Water gets behind the upstand and into the edge of a laminate worktop, and the board underneath can swell. Resealing before that happens protects the worktop.

About our bathroom resealing in Nash Mills

With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across Nash Mills. We’re ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our 12-month guarantee. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and kitchen worktops & upstands, and common reasons people get in touch are leaking joints on a shower screen and gaps where the bath or tray has moved.

Smaller places like Nash Mills still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.

We stand behind the work with a 12-month guarantee, so you are covered after we’ve gone.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

We do not publish a price list. The quote depends on:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • How many areas need sealing
  • The number and length of the joints

We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

Helping us quote

To make quoting easier, please include:

  • Whether it’s a home or a business
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is. When it suits you, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

The process

We keep the work tidy and contained to the area we’re working on, so you can get on with your day. The job generally takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, and we explain the cure time before we leave. A visit to Nash Mills is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, usually around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before
  • Tell us about access, such as stairs, a lift or high-level joints

Advice

FAQs for Nash Mills

Do you cover smaller places like Nash Mills?

Yes, we do. Our work covers London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Is it worth replacing old sealant in an older home in Nash Mills?

If it hasn’t been replaced for some years, it’s usually worth it. Sealant is a maintenance item: how long it lasts depends on use, cleaning and exposure, and many homes in Nash Mills may already be on their second or third set.

How much does bathroom resealing cost in Nash Mills?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote and we will talk you through it.

Is it messy?

No. We work neatly, protect the area around the joints and tidy up afterwards.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. The old sealant comes out, the mould is treated, and we reseal with anti-fungal sanitary silicone.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes, for 12 months. Looking after the joint as we suggest helps it last.

Do you reseal kitchen worktops and sinks too?

Yes. Worktops, sinks and splashbacks are all part of the job, in a kitchen-suitable sealant, matched to the worktop where it’s on show.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes. We cut out all the old sealant and clean the joint before resealing.

What bathroom resealing looks like in Nash Mills

Nash Mills is part of Hemel Hempstead, one of the post-war new towns. Many homes date from the post-war decades, so bathrooms and kitchens may be on their second or third set of sealant. New sealant won’t stick to old, so the old layers have to come out first. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Schools such as Nash Mills Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. Letting a property close to Apsley station? Then fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Nash Mills is about 2 miles south of Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire. Different surfaces, different methods

Basins & vanity units

Basin joints are short and close to eye level: so we keep the line tidy and even, finished in a colour that suits the basin.

Shower trays & enclosures

If a tray moves underfoot, new silicone will not last. Movement is checked before anything is resealed, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Signs you need bathroom resealing in Nash Mills

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. New silicone won’t bond to old silicone, so it lifts, lets water in and traps mould underneath.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
  • Water getting behind the kitchen upstand
  • A messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal

In the older streets around Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

What your quote should include

  • Who does the work, and how experienced they are
  • Whether they seal over old material or remove it
  • How the colour is chosen
  • Are they insured?

How to choose a mastic man

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

A DIY attempt doesn’t rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.
