Bathroom resealing in Tower Hill

Resealing is a small job that makes a big difference. Black, patchy sealant makes clean tiles look tired, and a clean white or clear joint fixes it quickly. Just as important, it closes the gaps water would otherwise get through. If you have a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and water getting behind the bath panel, we can put it right, on kitchen worktops & upstands, sinks & splashbacks and baths alike.

Homes around Tower Hill are mostly houses and cottages rather than flats. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Tower Hill

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you look after a building such as Kings Langley School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. For landlords with property near Hemel Hempstead station, mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets.

Tower Hill is about 3 miles south-west of Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire. Anywhere in WD4, our applicators can take on bathroom resealing. We cover 381 towns and villages across Hertfordshire. London is on our list too, about 23 miles from Tower Hill.

Here we cover the WD4 postcode area for bathroom resealing. Streets in the area include Stoney Lane, Nursery Gardens and Tower Hill, and we cover them all. Nearby, we also carry out bathroom resealing in Bulstrode (1 mile north-west), Hogpits Bottom (1 mile south-west), Bovingdon (2 miles north-west), Bourne End (3 miles north) and Chaulden (3 miles north). Larger places within reach include Watford (6 miles south-east), Hemel Hempstead (3 miles north-east), St Albans (8 miles east), Welwyn Garden City (15 miles north-east), Harpenden (10 miles north-east) and Hatfield (12 miles east).

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Failed grout lines across the wall
  • A tray or bath that’s cracked through
  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support

If you are not sure, just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Where we work in Tower Hill

  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Shower trays & enclosures

Different surfaces, different methods

Sinks & splashbacks

Where a splashback meets the worktop, there’s a joint that catches every splash. We renew it in clear, white or a matched colour.

Basins & vanity units

Vanity units have long, worktop-style joints against the wall. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.

Why act early in Tower Hill

You do not need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. A new bead often brings the whole room back, as long as the fittings themselves are sound. If something else is wrong, we will tell you. In a small place like Tower Hill, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Rather than a set price list, we price the job in front of us: how many joints, what’s in them now and how we reach them. You will know the price before we begin.

Why book with us

  • Over 20 years’ experience
  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • A 12-month guarantee on all work
  • Arbo and Everbuild products

DIY sealant or a professional job?

A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We remove it and do the joint properly, so just mention it when you contact us.

Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Common problems we fix in Tower Hill

Plenty of failed sealant has been laid over the top of older sealant. Fresh silicone can’t grip the old bead underneath, so it peels, leaks and hides mould behind it.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Damp behind the bath or under the tray
  • Black spots spreading through the bead
  • New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
  • Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone

Homes close to Church of St Paul include some older properties, and older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

What your quote should include

  • How much experience the applicator has
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • What guarantee comes with the work
  • What happens if the job turns out different

10 questions to ask before you book

Landlord and commercial work in Tower Hill

For anyone letting property in or around Tower Hill, jobs at different addresses can be quoted together. Send us the addresses and the work at each.

In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.

Tower Hill questions

I let a flat near Hemel Hempstead station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the details for a clear quote.

Do you cover smaller places like Tower Hill?

Yes. Tower Hill is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Can you get rid of the black mould in my sealant?

Yes. Mould inside the bead rarely cleans out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Of course. Doing several areas at once is generally more efficient.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We’ve worked for hotels, offices and other businesses.

Will there be a smell?

Some sealants have a smell while they cure, which fades as it sets. Opening a window helps.

Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?

Yes, often alongside a bathroom. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, we are fully insured.

How it works

There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included for a typical job. Somewhere like Tower Hill needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
  3. Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
  4. With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, normally around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
