What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

For a quick quote, just ask. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
  • Any working-time requirements on site
  • The amount of work
  • Whether the work is at height

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Helping us quote

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Where the property is
  • What’s wrong with the joints now
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

For a quick quote, get us on the phone, or email us if that’s easier. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will talk you through the work before giving you a price.

Bathroom resealing for homes and businesses in Fields End

Showers work their sealant harder than baths. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. Each gets a bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We work on baths, wet rooms and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt and a joint torn by a bath that flexes.

Somewhere as small as Fields End, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

All our work is covered by a 12-month guarantee.

Different surfaces, different methods

Basins & vanity units

A vanity top has a joint along the wall and sometimes at the sides. Water that gets behind can damage the unit, so a neat, continuous bead matters.

Shower trays & enclosures

A tray that rocks will split any sealant. We check for movement before we reseal, and tell you if it needs re-bedding first.

Fields End: your questions answered

Will you come out to Fields End?

Yes, Fields End is covered. Our work covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

Can you do bathroom resealing in Fields End?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Fields End is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

Can you quote for more than one area?

Yes, we can. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Is it worth trying it myself?

For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.

Is white the only colour available?

You’re not limited to white: white, clear and colours to suit tiles and worktops. We will talk it through when we quote.

Can you reseal around my kitchen sink and worktop?

Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.

When can I use the bath or shower again?

Silicone is touch-dry quite quickly, but it takes longer to cure. Keep water off it for around 24 hours, or as long as we advise for that product.

Does the resealing come with a guarantee?

Yes. Our 12-month guarantee covers every job, and we are ARBOMaster approved applicators.

When to call us in Fields End

Sealant laid on a damp, dusty or greasy joint never bonds properly. Traces of soap, bath oil and old sealant stop it gripping, so a rushed job can start to lift early.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Gaps between the worktop and the wall
  • Sealant that has split, shrunk or peeled away
  • Smears of silicone across the tiles
  • Water getting behind the bath panel

Bathroom resealing around Fields End

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to St Alban's Church include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you let a flat or house near Hemel Hempstead station, a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for.

Fields End is about 2 miles west of Hemel Hempstead, in Hertfordshire. Looking after it afterwards

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. Our advice:

  • Wipe the sealant dry after showering
  • Keep an eye on the corners, where splits start
  • Let new sealant cure fully before it gets wet
  • Stick to a soft cloth and a mild cleaner

Have a look at the joints every few months. Small splits and lifting ends are easy to catch early, so if something doesn’t look right, just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Resealing early stops it.

What sealant work cannot fix

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • A tray that rocks until it’s re-bedded
  • Water coming from the plumbing rather than the joint
  • Loose or hollow tiles, or failed tanking behind them

If you’re not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer.

What we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Kitchen worktops & upstands
  • Sinks & splashbacks
  • Baths

Can I do it myself?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A heavy bead looks messy and copes badly with movement, and the joint depth matters as much as the finish.

What happens on the day

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom, including the tidy-up. Somewhere as small as Fields End, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.

  1. First the area is protected and every bit of old sealant removed.
  2. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  3. We let it dry fully and fill the bath with water before sealing.
  4. We apply anti-fungal sanitary silicone in one even bead and tool it neatly.
  5. We clear away and tell you when it can get wet, generally after around 24 hours.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Let us know about parking restrictions
