Our bathroom resealing service in SG2
With over 20 years in the trade, we reseal baths, showers and kitchens in homes across SG2. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and the work comes with a 12-month guarantee. We work on shower trays & enclosures, basins & vanity units and baths, and common reasons people get in touch are water escaping at the shower enclosure and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off.
The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on. The job usually takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- Joints are degreased and any mould is treated.
- With the joint dry, and any bath loaded with water, a single bead of anti-fungal silicone is applied.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, usually around 24 hours.
Pricing in SG2
Leaving a failed joint generally makes the job bigger, not smaller, as water and mould keep getting in. If you are unsure, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email for an honest opinion and a quote.

The countryside around Chells includes Pryor's Wood.
Where we work in SG2
Across SG2, from Stevenage, Chells and Shephall outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
Hard water across most of the South East leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. Whatever the job in SG2, surfaces are cleaned back properly before new sealant goes in.
Chells: Rented homes near Stevenage station change hands often, and mouldy sealant is one of the first things a new tenant notices, so it’s worth renewing between lets. If you look after a building such as The Nobel School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
Quotes for bathroom resealing in SG2
For a quick quote, just ask. What matters most is:
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- How much there is to do
Instead of a standard rate, we look at what your job involves: the amount of work, the old material and the access. You’ll know the price before we begin.
What we need to know
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- Roughly how big the job is
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- Whether it has been sealed before
Need a quote? Please phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a few details. We’ll explain what we’d do and give you a clear price before work begins.
What happens if it’s left?
Tired sealant isn’t a reason to replace a bath or shower. Replacing the joint is usually all it takes, provided the bath, tray and tiles are in good order. If something else is wrong, we will tell you.
Comparing quotes
- How long to leave it before use
- Whether the sealant suits the joint
- How the joint is cleaned and prepared
- Whether you can choose the colour
Common problems we fix in SG2
The wrong product fails fast. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants are not made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
It’s worth asking for a quote if you see:
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone
- Water escaping at the shower enclosure
- Gaps where the bath or tray has moved
How the job changes by surface
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. The new bead is colour-matched where it shows, so the line doesn’t stand out.
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.
When something else is needed
We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
Your questions about bathroom resealing in SG2
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
Does the resealing come with a guarantee?
Yes. We give a 12-month guarantee on every job, and we’re fully insured.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses, and we are fully insured.
Are you an approved applicator?
Yes. We hold ARBOMaster approved applicator status, and we’re fully insured.
Do you take out the old sealant first?
Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, and it’s something we never do.
Are you insured?
Yes. We are fully insured.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes. Once mould has grown into the silicone, it normally can’t be cleaned out for good, so we cut it out, treat the joint and reseal with anti-fungal silicone.
