Bathroom resealing across WD19: what to expect
We fill the bath before sealing it. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. Quick jobs often leave it out, and it makes a real difference. We work on kitchen worktops & upstands, baths and wet rooms, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps where the bath or tray has moved and gaps between the worktop and the wall.
When we get to you, we check the joints match what you told us. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.
- We start by protecting the area and stripping out the old bead.
- We clean and degrease the joint and treat any mould.
- Once it’s dry, any bath is filled so the bead is laid with it at its heaviest.
- A single bead of anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied and tooled smooth.
- Finally we tidy up and explain the cure time before we leave.

Local landmarks in Carpenders Park
In Carpenders Park, that means homes and buildings near The Bushey Academy, Oxhey Chapel and The Royal Oak pub. Nearby too are St Meryl School (within half a mile east), Oxhey Park (1.3 miles north) and St. Hilda's School (1.5 miles north-east). Carpenders Park has its own railway station: Carpenders Park station. A little further out are Hilfield Castle (2.8 miles north-east) and Hertfordshire Fire Brigade Museum (1.6 miles north). Where we work in WD19
From Watford, Oxhey and Colney Butts to its smaller places, homes across WD19 have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
From Victorian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates, homes across the South East and London cover every era. Each needs the right sealant for its age and materials, wherever it is in WD19.
Carpenders Park: Carpenders Park is in London, so parking needs planning: let us know about parking bays, permits or a driveway. If you live in an older home near Oxhey Chapel, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
What affects the quote in WD19
We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- When we can work, for business premises
- The product the joint needs
- How much old sealant there is and how hard it is to remove
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, how we reach it and what it needs, plus any working-time requirements on site. Ask us for a quote and we’ll explain what it covers.
Asking for a quote
You do not need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- Where the job is, and your postcode
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- What’s wrong with the joints now
- The type of property
Need a quote? Please ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details. You’ll know what we plan to do, and what it will cost, before any work begins.
What happens if it’s left?
You don’t need a new bathroom because the sealant looks bad. Replacing the joint is normally all it takes. If something else is wrong, we will tell you.
Questions to ask before booking
- The length of the guarantee
- What the quote includes, VAT included or not
- Who turns up on the day
- How the colour is chosen
Surface by surface
Wet rooms
If a wet room leaks, the cause may be the tanking or the drain rather than the joints. We reseal the joints and will tell you if the water seems to be coming from somewhere else.
Kitchen worktops & upstands
The joint between worktop and wall takes splashes, crumbs and cleaning sprays. We seal them in a colour that suits the worktop.
Looking after it afterwards
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Use gentle cleaners on the silicone
- Do not leave water standing on kitchen joints
- Open a window or run the fan so the room dries
- Wait for the cure time we give you
Clean the silicone with care: warm soapy water and a soft cloth do the job. Scourers and blades can nick the surface, and a nicked bead lets mould in sooner.
There’s no need to wait for a full refurbishment. Sealant is a maintenance item, like the paint on a window frame, and replacing it when it fails protects the rest of the room.
Why it fails
Not every tube in the shop is meant for a shower. Decorators’ caulk and all-purpose sealants aren’t made for constant wetting, so they stain, crack or go mouldy before long. A bathroom joint needs anti-fungal sanitary silicone.
Signs it’s time to call us include:
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- New sealant laid over old sealant that is now lifting
- Black mould in the silicone that will not clean off
- Failed sealant on the screen profile
Your questions about bathroom resealing in WD19
How long does it take to reseal a bath or shower?
That depends on the number of joints and the state of the old sealant. Allow a couple of hours for a typical bath or shower.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. Next to the sink we use a food-safe product where it’s needed.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses and we’re fully insured.
Do I need to be at home?
That depends on where the joints are. Inside work needs someone to give us access, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.
Is it OK to put new sealant on top of the old bead?
No. Fresh silicone cannot stick to the old bead, so it peels away and hides mould and water. All the old sealant comes out first.
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
