Bathroom resealing in WD99: how it works
A bead that has gone black, split or come away is worth sorting before it lets water through. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with a photo of the joints, and we will give you a clear quote for bathroom resealing in WD99. We work on wet rooms, shower trays & enclosures and basins & vanity units, and people most often call us about leaking joints on a shower screen and water getting behind the bath panel.
There is not much for you to do on the day. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The work itself takes two to three hours for a typical bath, depending on how much old sealant there is, including the tidy-up.
- First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
- Every trace of the old bead is removed, including the thin smear on the tiles.
- The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
- When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
- The bead is tooled smooth and you’re told the cure time, normally around 24 hours.
Pricing in WD99
The cost depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts.

Bathroom resealing across WD99: local notes
Across WD99, from Holywell outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.
From Victorian terraces to post-war new towns and modern estates, homes across the South East and London cover every era. Each needs the right sealant for its age and materials, wherever it is in WD99.
Holywell: For an older house near a landmark such as St Oswald's Parish Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Schools such as Westfield Academy are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
What happens if it’s left?
Most of the work in a good reseal happens before any silicone goes on: removing all the old sealant, degreasing the joint, treating mould and drying it properly. Skip those steps and even the best silicone fails early.
Questions to ask before you book
- When the joint can take water or movement
- What insurance they hold
- What guarantee comes with the work

- Where the job is, and your postcode
- How we’d reach the joints

How the job changes by surface
Wet rooms
A wet room floor and its walls can move independently, so the internal corners need silicone rather than grout. Cracked grout in a corner can be cut out and replaced with silicone.
Baths
Baths move more than any other fitting, so it’s filled with water before the bead goes on. The joint is then laid with the bath at its lowest point and isn’t stretched when it’s used.
What sealant work cannot fix
We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:
- Damage behind the tiles that needs a tiler
- A tray or bath that’s cracked through
- Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that is regrouting)
Work for landlords, hotels and businesses
We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.
Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we will give you a quote.
Common questions in WD99
What colours of sealant can you use?
White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.
Do you work for hotels and businesses?
Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. Working times can be discussed when we quote.
My sealant has gone black. Can you sort it?
Yes, we replace the mouldy bead. Cleaning products may lighten it, but the lasting fix is new anti-fungal silicone on a clean, treated joint. Good ventilation helps keep it away.
Do the sealants smell?
That depends on the sealant. Some products have a noticeable smell, others very little.
Will you leave a mess?
Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints.
What do you put in the joint?
Quality sealants from brands including Arbo and Everbuild, chosen to suit the joint. We’ll tell you what we’re using and why.
Can I do it myself?
You can, for simple jobs. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.
