How regrouting works in West Sussex
If you’ve been scrubbing grout that won’t come clean, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you’re at it. We work on bathroom wall tiles, bathroom floors and shower walls, and people most often call us about a grout colour that no longer suits the room and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease.
On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The job generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Pricing in West Sussex
The cost depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

Landmarks near Crawley
Typical jobs here are in homes near Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, St Wilfrid's Catholic School and Tilgate Park, among other places. Other local landmarks include The George Hotel (less than half a mile north), Three Bridges Junior School (under half a mile south-east) and St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School (under half a mile south-east). Crawley has its own railway station: Crawley station. Well-known places in the area include Crawley Hospital (0.5 miles north-west) and County Mall (under half a mile north-east). Not far away are Tilgate Lake.
Where we work in West Sussex
Homes across West Sussex range from older properties to new builds, with plenty of rented property in places like Crawley, Horsham and Worthing. Sound sealant and clean grout keep water out and rooms looking cared for.
London and the South East have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building, wherever it is in West Sussex. Along the coast in West Sussex, window and wall joints facing the sea take the brunt of the weather, and that’s where sealant generally gives up first. Good preparation and the right sealant help it cope.
Crawley: In the older streets around Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you let a flat or house near Crawley station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.
DIY sealant or a professional job?
If you’ve already had a go yourself, that’s fine. We cut it out and start again.
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and does not move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
How the job changes by surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Whole bathroom walls can be regrouted in one visit or more, depending on the area. You can change the colour at the same time.
Shower walls
The grout in a shower takes the brunt of the water. We rake it out and regrout and renew the silicone at the edges.
Leave it or put it right?
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but mould that has got into grout generally comes back. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix.
Questions to ask before you book
- How hidden problems are handled
- What product goes in the joint
- Whether you can choose the colour
- Is VAT in the price?
How we quote for regrouting
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Whether the work is at height
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Any mould that needs treating
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.
Asking for a quote
Before you ask for a quote, have a think about:
- How many joints, rooms or windows are involved
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
- The problem you’ve noticed
To get a quote, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with the location and a short description of the problem. We’ll give you a clear price before any work starts.
When something else is needed
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before work begins. It will not solve:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- A leaking wet room membrane
FAQs for West Sussex
Do you reseal at the same time?
Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and include it in your quote.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes. Tell us about everything you’d like done and we’ll quote it together.
Should I try DIY first?
Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.
