Our bathroom resealing service in GU28

A shower joint gets soaked every day. Tray edges, screen profiles and wet room joints all rely on silicone to stay watertight. They’re resealed with anti-fungal sanitary silicone, tooled smooth so water runs off instead of sitting in a ridge. We work on shower trays & enclosures, kitchen worktops & upstands and sinks & splashbacks, and common reasons people get in touch are damp behind the bath or under the tray and shrunken sealant along the back of a worktop.

When we arrive, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before work begins. Most jobs take half a day or less for one room, longer when the kitchen is included.

  1. Protection goes down around the bath, shower or worktop.
  2. Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
  3. Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
  4. Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
  5. We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Where we work in GU28

Homes across GU28 range from older properties to new builds, with plenty of rented property in places like Petworth, Lodsworth and Hampers Green. Sound sealant and clean grout keep water out and rooms looking cared for.

The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, but outdoor sealant still needs a dry day and clean surfaces, so outside work in GU28 is planned around the forecast.

Petworth: For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Petworth Cof E Primary School, we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Rented homes near Pulborough station change hands often, and fresh sealant around the bath, shower and sink between tenancies helps a property present well and keeps leaks at bay.

Landlords, agents and businesses in GU28

Water getting past a failed joint can damage the building, which is a bigger problem in a rented property. Keeping joints in good order is simple maintenance.

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

Why act early?

Leaving a split or mouldy bead only stores up trouble. Once water is behind the bath, it can reach floorboards, panels and the ceiling underneath, turning a small job into a building repair.

What your quote should include

  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • Whether they’re fully insured
  • How the joint is cleaned and prepared
  • How long to leave it before use

Should I try it myself first?

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen worktops & upstands

Upstands and back edges are cut out, cleaned of grease and resealed, since cooking leaves a film that stops silicone sticking. The extra cleaning is what makes the bead last.

Baths

The long joint down the side of a bath is where most leaks start, especially under a shower. We finish it with a single, even bead of anti-fungal silicone, tooled so water cannot sit on it.

When it isn’t the sealant

A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:

  • Cracked or missing grout between tiles (that’s regrouting)
  • Movement from a bath with loose feet or no proper support
  • Leaks from a shower valve, waste or pipework (a plumber’s job)

Questions from GU28

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.

Is white the only colour available?

White and clear are the most common choices, and other colours are available to suit tiles, trays and worktops. Let us know your preference when you ask for a quote.

Where are you based?

Our base is Crawley. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

Do you cover GU28?

Yes, we do. GU28 is part of the area we cover.

What do you need from me for a quote?

A short description and the location, with photos by email if possible. If we need more, we will ask.

Do the sealants smell?

Sometimes, a little. Any smell clears as the sealant cures.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that generally means someone at home.
