Bathroom resealing across RH14: what to expect
Mr Mastic has more than 20 years’ experience of sealant work, and our applicators reseal bathrooms and kitchens across RH14. We are ARBOMaster approved and fully insured, and every job carries our one-year guarantee. Common call-outs are for damp behind the bath or under the tray and cracked, shrunken or lifting silicone, across shower trays & enclosures, wet rooms and sinks & splashbacks.
Good joint work is mostly preparation, so that is where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. All told, the work takes around two hours for one bath or shower, longer for a whole bathroom.
- We cover the area around the joints we are working on.
- We cut away the old sealant and clean off what’s left.
- Mould is treated, then the joint is left to dry thoroughly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

Landmarks near Billingshurst
Locally, jobs take us to homes and businesses close to The Weald School, Billingshurst Primary School and Billingshurst Unitarian Chapel, among other places. Billingshurst has its own railway station: Billingshurst station. For a walk, there’s The Mens.
Bathroom resealing across RH14: local notes
Across RH14, from Billingshurst, Wisborough Green and Loxwood outwards, we see bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Sealant and grout wear out in all of them, whether it’s a family bathroom, a rented flat or a hotel en suite.
The South East is one of the drier parts of the UK, though outside sealant still needs a dry, clean joint, so work across RH14 is planned around the weather.
Billingshurst: Rented homes near Billingshurst station change hands often, and a reseal between tenants is a quick way to make the bathroom and kitchen look cared for. In the older streets around Billingshurst Unitarian Chapel, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.
Landlord and commercial work in RH14
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room. Hotel work is part of what we do, alongside homes and businesses.
Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. Several sites can be quoted together, and we are fully insured.
Why deal with it now?
Sorting it now is quick: it takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen. Left until water gets through, the job can grow to lifting panels, drying out and decorating.
Questions to ask before booking
- Who turns up on the day
- What product goes in the joint
- What preparation is included
- How long the guarantee is
Looking after it afterwards
How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:
- Dry the bead with a towel now and then
- Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
- Look for lifting corners and small gaps now and then
- Never pick at the silicone with a blade
Good ventilation does more than any cleaner. Use the fan, or open a window, while you bathe and for a while afterwards, so the bead dries out between uses.
A split bead lets water through every time the bath or shower is used. Over time that water reaches floors, walls and ceilings. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
Can I do it myself?
Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone will not bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
A DIY attempt does not rule out a professional job. We cut it out and start again.
Different surfaces, different methods
Baths
Acrylic baths give a little under load, and even steel and cast iron baths settle slightly when full. Filling the bath first allows for that movement.
Wet rooms
Not every wet room leak is a sealant problem. We check the joints and say so if the fault looks to be elsewhere.
FAQs for RH14
Do you hold any approvals?
Yes. We are ARBOMaster approved, the scheme for applicators of Arbo sealants.
What do you put in the joint?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Will there be a smell?
Sometimes, a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we’ve been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need.
Where do you work from?
Our base is Crawley. We work across South East England, London and Scotland.
What does bathroom resealing cost?
Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us what needs doing and where.
