How bathroom resealing works in GU6
We fill the bath before sealing it. A full bath sits slightly lower than an empty one, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. Common call-outs are for mouldy sealant that has gone black and splits where the tray meets the wall, across basins & vanity units, sinks & splashbacks and wet rooms.
Once we’re on site, we compare the joints with what we discussed. If anything is different, we explain it before carrying on. After that, the work takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.
- We cover the area around the joints we’re working on.
- Old sealant is sliced away and the residue removed.
- We treat any mould and let the joint dry properly.
- Baths are filled first, then anti-fungal sanitary silicone is applied in a colour to suit.
- We finish the joint, clear up and tell you how long to leave it before it gets wet.

What’s near Cranleigh
Typical jobs here are in homes near Glebelands School, St Cuthbert Mayne Catholic Primary School and Church of St Nicholas.
Where we work in GU6
Homes across GU6 range from older properties to new builds, and in places like Cranleigh, Ewhurst and Alfold Crossways there’s plenty of rented property too. Sound sealant and clean grout keep water out and rooms looking cared for.
Hard water across most of the South East leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings. For any job in GU6, joints are cleaned back properly before anything new goes in.
Cranleigh: Managing a site like St Cuthbert Mayne Catholic Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Homes close to Church of St Nicholas include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
Why it fails
Older sealant shrinks and hardens. In kitchens it often shrinks away from the back edge, opening a hairline gap that lets water and crumbs in. Hot pans and harsh cleaners do not help.
People usually contact us after spotting something like this:
- A reseal done over the top of the old bead
- Lumpy, uneven sealant from a DIY attempt
- Mouldy sealant that has gone black
- Failed sealant on the screen profile

Helping us quote
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- Roughly how big the job is
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- Pictures of the joints, sent by email
- The type of property
It all starts with a short chat. Tell us what’s wrong, where it is and how much there is, and we will talk you through what we’d do. Whenever you’re ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
When it is not the sealant
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- A leaking waste, trap or valve
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- A bath or tray that moves because it isn’t properly supported
How to look after the new joints
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Do not let bottles sit on the bead
- Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
- Wait for the cure time we give you
- Dry worktop joints after washing up
Keep bottles and razors off the sealant line, as they hold water against it. Squeegeeing the walls and tray after use keeps water from sitting on the joint.
Each shower pushes a little more water through a failed joint. Left alone, it soaks into the floor, the wall behind the tiles or the ceiling below. Early resealing closes the gap before damage is done.
Surface by surface
Baths
Most bath leaks begin along the long edge, particularly where there’s a shower over the bath. It gets one smooth bead of anti-fungal silicone.
Basins & vanity units
Basin joints are short and close to eye level: the bead is right in front of you, so it’s tooled cleanly and evenly, finished in a colour that suits the basin.
Questions from GU6
Does someone need to be in?
It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, and for outside work we’ll agree access with you when we book.
What sealant do you use?
It depends on the joint: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.
Are you ARBOMaster approved?
Yes. We’re approved under the ARBOMaster scheme.
Can tenants book the work?
Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.
How long before the new sealant can get wet?
Around 24 hours is typical, and we confirm the time for the product used. Using it sooner can damage the bead.
Do you do kitchens as well as bathrooms?
Yes. Where it’s needed by the sink, we use a food-safe sealant.
What should I tell you?
Where the job is, what the problem is and roughly how big it is. Photos by email help too.
