Why deal with it now?

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Older cottages and farmhouses around Heyshott Green can have timber floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.

Homes and businesses are quoted the same way: the amount of work, the access and the products needed. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.

How we handle regrouting in Heyshott Green

We check the tiles before any grout comes out. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, since new grout can’t fix a problem underneath. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. If you have kitchen splashback grout stained by grease and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, we can put it right, on tiled floors, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks alike.

Being in a small place like Heyshott Green makes no difference to the job itself: the journey and access are simply agreed in advance. In the bathroom or kitchen, the work is the same as in any town.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

How the visit works

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we will get on with it. The job generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, including the tidy-up. For a village or hamlet like Heyshott Green, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know about parking restrictions
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Keeping the joints in good condition

Aftercare is simple:

  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use stops soap and water sitting on the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window to help it dry out.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough so early action pays.

Heyshott Green: your questions answered

Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Heyshott Green?

All our work, in Heyshott Green and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.

Will you come out to Heyshott Green?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We’ve worked for hotels, offices and other businesses, and we are fully insured.

Do I need to be at home?

It depends on the job. For work indoors, someone needs to let us in, while outside work can sometimes be arranged differently.

Should I try DIY first?

Sometimes. Preparation is everything: all the old sealant out, and a clean, dry joint. If it doesn’t work out, we can redo it.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so both are renewed and include it in your quote.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

We’re a Crawley-based firm. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Only a few details: where it is, what you’ve noticed and how we reach it. After that, simply phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

Heyshott Green homes and their sealant

Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings.

If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of St James, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first. If you look after a building such as Midhurst Rother College, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

DIY versus a professional finish

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Not every job suits DIY: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Honest limits

We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant cannot put right:

  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll say what we think before booking.
