Need regrouting in Worthing?

Regrouting for homes and businesses in Worthing

Stained, crumbling or cracked grout can make a sound bathroom look tired. Regrouting replaces the grout and keeps the tiles you have, so there’s no stripping out and no new tiles to choose. If you have grout in corners that has cracked and gaps where the shower grout has gone, we can help, on tiled floors, wet rooms and bathroom floors alike.

Alongside its houses and flats, Worthing has offices, shops and places to stay, all with washrooms and kitchens that need the same care as a family bathroom. Homes and businesses get the same careful preparation before anything new goes in.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right with it in that time, tell us and we’ll put it right.

What happens on the day

A visit follows a simple pattern: we look at the joints together, mask and protect the surrounding surfaces, carry out the job and tidy away. It normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. For homes and businesses in busier parts of Worthing, parking needs a little planning. Let us know about stairs, lifts or shared entrances too.

  1. We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.

Preparing for the visit

  • For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
  • Let us know about stairs, lifts or work at height
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Advice

Keeping the joints in good condition

How long the joints last depends on use and care. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Open a window or run the fan to clear steam
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Skip wire brushes and scourers

Clean the grout with a mild bathroom cleaner and a soft brush. Keep harsh bleach and acid limescale removers away from it, as they can break grout down.

Grout that is washing out of a shower shouldn’t be left. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

What we can’t put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things sealant won’t fix:

  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • Cracked or broken tiles
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

Surfaces we seal

  • Bathroom floors
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom wall tiles

Worthing homes and their sealant

Worthing is within about 2 miles of the coast. Coastal homes, holiday lets and guest houses can see heavy bathroom use in busy months, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Worthing. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room.

If you look after a building such as Durrington High School, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. Letting a property close to West Worthing station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. If you live in an older home near St Andrew's Church, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.

DIY versus a professional finish

If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

Some sealant jobs are within reach of a careful DIYer, such as a straightforward joint indoors. Where it goes wrong is sealing over the old bead, working on a wet joint or overloading the gap.

FAQs for Worthing

Can you do regrouting in Worthing?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Worthing is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near West Worthing station?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll send you a clear quote.

What does regrouting cost?

Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Ask us for a quote.

Can you work on commercial sites?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises. We can talk about working times when we quote.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before applying anything new.

Do you grout the corners?

Silicone. Grout is for the joints between tiles and moving joints need sealant.

Is it OK to seal over old sealant?

No. New silicone will not bond to old silicone, and it traps any mould or water underneath. It all has to come out first.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

New grout cannot hold loose tiles in place. We flag any loose or hollow tiles before starting, so you can decide what to do.

What affects the quote in Worthing

There’s no set price list. What we look at:

  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Whether the work is at height
  • When we can work, for business premises

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote.

Helping us quote

You do not need to know the technical terms. It helps if you can tell us:

  • Photos by email, if that is easy
  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • Where the property is

If you’re in Worthing and need regrouting, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and we will agree the price before any work begins.

For landlords and businesses

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements and we’ll give you a quote.

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Why it’s worth doing now in Worthing

Colouring the surface of old grout is a quick cosmetic fix. They won’t fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Busy buildings in Worthing, from hotels to offices, cannot afford rooms out of use for leaks or mould, so failing joints are best replaced on a planned basis.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: how much there is to do, how we reach it and what it needs, along with when we can work on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
