Regrouting around The Haven
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Around The Haven, as everywhere, regrouting is only as good as the preparation behind it.

Regrouting in The Haven, done properly
Across The Haven, we regrout tiled showers, bathrooms and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, finished with new silicone at the edges. We work on tiled floors, wet rooms and bathroom floors, and people most often call us about grout washed out of a shower and grout that makes sound tiles look old.
In a village or hamlet like The Haven, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once the job is done.

The Haven questions
I let a flat near Billingshurst station. Can you help?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.
Is The Haven in your area for regrouting?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and The Haven is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We will point them out at the start.
How long should I wait before showering?
The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll give you a time to follow at the end of the visit.
Where are you based?
We’re based in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.
How do I get a quote for regrouting in The Haven?
Size, access and the old material all affect the cost. Call for a quick quote.
Which products do you use?
Products from Arbo and Everbuild, among others, picked for each joint. We explain the product when we quote.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. We are fully insured, and we have been doing sealant work for more than 20 years.
DIY versus a professional finish
Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas need the right product, the right access and the right method.
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.
How the job changes by surface
Shower walls
A shower wall is soaked daily, so its grout takes the most punishment. It’s often the first place grout washes out.
Bathroom floors
Regrouting a floor brightens the whole room. Floor-to-wall and bath joints are sealed, not grouted.
What affects the cost of regrouting
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- Access and height
- Any working-time requirements on site
- How many areas need sealing
Doing several joints on one visit is usually more efficient than separate visits, so it’s worth mentioning everything you’d like done. You will get one clear quote for the whole job.
What we need to know
What to tell us when you ask for a quote:
- If someone has resealed it before
- Whether it’s a home or a business
- The rough size of the job
- The address or postcode of the job
For regrouting in The Haven, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email. A short description of the job and where it is helps us quote, and you will get a clear quote before work begins.
What we cannot put right
New sealant can’t fix everything, and we’ll tell you before we start. Sealant will not put right:
- Loose tiles, which need refixing first
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we do, step by step
Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it normally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. Somewhere like The Haven needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
- We remove the old grout carefully.
- Dust is cleared from every joint.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
Before we arrive
- For business premises, tell us about site rules or sign-in
- Tell us about any water getting in
- Where the joints are inside, avoid wetting them before we arrive

Advice
How to look after the new joints
Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. We suggest:
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Clean grout with a mild bathroom cleaner
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Please follow it, and go gently on the grout at first.
Fixing grout early is a small job. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
When to call us in The Haven
Most grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down and showers that get daily use suffer most.
The most common problems we see are:
- Shower grout that has worn away
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Old grout in a dated colour
For landlords with property near Billingshurst station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.
