Regrouting in Portfield
Regrouting for Portfield and the surrounding area: the right sealant, proper preparation and a neat finish. Ask us for a quick quote.
- Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean
- Floor grout that has worn and darkened
- Grout in corners that has cracked
Why deal with it now?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and the room is out of use for longer. When the tiles are fine, it’s the sensible first step. In an older home around Portfield, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, and that’s a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.
The cost reflects the work involved, not guesswork. That’s why we ask a few questions first.

Regrouting in Portfield
Grout is the filler between your tiles, and sealant is what goes along the bath, tray or worktop. Once grout starts to crack or wash away, water can get in behind the tiles. Our job is to rake it out and put new grout in, then reseal the corners and edges. If you’re dealing with crumbling grout between the tiles and cracked grout along the bath or tray, we can put it right, on bathroom wall tiles, tiled floors and bathroom floors alike.
In a smaller place like Portfield, homes are mostly houses and bungalows rather than flats, some older and some much newer. Sealant and grout wear out here just as they do in a big town.
The work is covered for a year after we finish. If there’s a problem with it, please call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

What affects the cost of regrouting
Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:
- When we can work, for business premises
- The number and length of the joints
- How easy the joints are to reach
- The type of sealant required
Some things make a job bigger or smaller: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether the work is at height. We take all of that into account in your quote.
What to tell us for a quote
Photos help, but a description is a good start. Try to tell us:
- The problem you’ve noticed
- Whether it has been sealed before
- Roughly how big the job is
- A few pictures by email, if you can
We don’t publish a price list. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.
Looking after it afterwards
Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:
- Give the walls a quick rinse after use
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
- Keep the fan on after showering
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

Questions from Portfield
Will you come out to Portfield?
Yes, Portfield is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Do you work in hotels near Portfield?
Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Work can be planned room by room, and out-of-hours working can be arranged.
Is it messy?
We keep the work tidy. We protect what’s around the joints, and the area is left clean when we finish.
Where do you work from?
We work from Crawley. Our applicators cover Portfield, along with the rest of our area.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access.
How soon can the shower be used after regrouting?
The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll give you a time to follow when the job is done.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
How long does regrouting take?
That depends on the amount of work, but as a guide it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Portfield homes and their sealant
There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Portfield. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Letting a property close to Chichester station? Then clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again. If you look after a building such as Portfield Primary Academy, washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
What the job involves on each surface
Corners and edges
Corners flex as the building moves, so they get silicone, not grout.
Bathroom floors
Cracked floor grout can point to movement underneath. We check the tiles before regrouting.
When to call us in Portfield
When tiles or the wall behind them move, the grout cracks. Loose tiles, bouncy floors and timber walls can all do it, so we check the tiles before any work starts.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Grout that’s cracking and breaking up
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
- Old grout in a dated colour
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
In the older streets around St George's, bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.
Comparing quotes
- What preparation is included
- How much experience the applicator has
- What insurance they hold
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
What we do, step by step
There’s no need to move everything out before we come, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the work takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room for a typical job. A visit to Portfield is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. Outdoor jobs depend on a dry day, since sealant needs a dry surface.
- We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
- Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are vacuumed and cleaned.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Preparing for the visit
- Clear the area around the work
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Tell us if parking is tricky
