Sealant work in RH15

Our bathroom resealing service in RH15

We fill the bath before sealing it. The weight settles the bath to its lowest point, so the new joint isn’t pulled apart the first time it’s used. It’s a small step that rushed reseals tend to skip. Typical jobs include a messy, uneven bead from a previous reseal and black mould in the silicone that won’t clean off, across sinks & splashbacks, baths and wet rooms.

On the day, we start by going over the job with you. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. The work generally takes a couple of hours for one bath or shower, or most of a day for a full bathroom and kitchen.

  1. First, each joint is checked for movement and signs of water.
  2. The old silicone is cut out completely, along with the film it leaves on the tiles.
  3. The joint is cleaned, degreased and treated for mould.
  4. When the joint is dry, and a bath has been filled with water, the new silicone goes on.
  5. We tool the bead to a neat finish and give you the cure time, generally around 24 hours.

Local landmarks in Burgess Hill

We work in homes and buildings around St John the Evangelist's Church, The Six Gold Martlets pub and Oakmeeds Community College, among other places. Nearby too are Burgess Hill Girls (0.5 miles south) and St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School (under half a mile south-west). There’s a railway station in Burgess Hill itself: Burgess Hill station. Nearby you’ll also find Burgess Hill Museum (less than half a mile south-west) and Clayton Castle (3.4 miles south). For a walk, there’s Bedelands Farm Nature Reserve and Wolstonbury Hill.

Where we work in RH15

In RH15, bathroom resealing takes in flats, houses, rentals and businesses, from Burgess Hill, Lewes and World's End to the quieter places in between. Wherever the job is, all the old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings. For any job in RH15, joints are cleaned back properly before anything new goes in.

Burgess Hill: Homes close to St John the Evangelist's Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Managing a site like St Wilfrid's Catholic Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

When something else is needed

Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what sealant can’t fix:

  • A leaking waste, trap or valve
  • A bath or tray that moves because it is not properly supported
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care keeps the joints in good condition. We recommend:

  • Avoid abrasive pads on the sealant
  • Give the silicone its full cure time
  • Keep the fan on for a while after bathing
  • Wipe up water along the back of the worktop

Keep water off the new bead until it has cured, which is normally around 24 hours. Once it’s cured, wiping it down after use keeps it looking new.

A few black dots in the silicone soon become a black line. When it has grown right through, it rarely cleans out. Replacing the sealant early keeps the job small.

Landlords, agents and businesses in RH15

We work for landlords and agents as well as householders. Sealant work between tenants is a simple way to keep a property in good order.

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.

Should I try it myself first?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

What affects the cost of bathroom resealing

The price is agreed before any work begins. It takes into account:

  • The size of the job
  • Whether the work is at height
  • Any mould that needs treating
  • Which sealant suits the joint

A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, any mould to treat, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Helping us quote

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • Access, such as stairs, a lift or height
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Pictures of the joints, sent by email
  • Whether it’s a home or a business

Every job is quoted individually. Simply phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and describe the job and send pictures if you have them.

FAQs for RH15

Where do you work from?

We work from Crawley. We cover RH15 and the rest of West Sussex.

Can I choose the colour of the sealant?

We can use white, clear or a colour to suit. On a worktop we colour-match where the joint shows.

Do the sealants smell?

There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Opening a window helps.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, every time. New silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so the joint is cleaned back first.

How long does a bath or shower reseal take?

One bath or shower is around two hours’ work, old sealant removal included. A whole bathroom plus the kitchen may take most of the day.

Is it messy?

Tidy work is part of the job. We protect what’s around the joints, and we clear up when we are done.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we’re fully insured for every job we do.
