Regrouting for World's End homes and businesses

What affects the cost of regrouting

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We take into account:

  • The product the joint needs
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • The number of rooms or windows
  • When we can work, for business premises

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

Asking for a quote

There’s no need for technical detail. Just tell us:

  • Where the job is, and your postcode
  • The type of property
  • Any access issues, like height or stairs
  • Whether it has been sealed before

Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we’ll explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Regrouting for homes and businesses in World's End

Grout fills the gaps between tiles, while sealant goes where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop. When grout cracks or washes out, water has a way in behind the tiling. We rake it out and replace it, then reseal the corners and edges. We are often asked to deal with dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, across bathroom floors, wet rooms and kitchen splashbacks.

Smaller places like World's End still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with our work within the year, let us know and we’ll sort it.

Keeping the joints in good condition

Joint life depends on how it’s used and looked after. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Do not use strong acidic cleaners on grout
  • Get any tile that moves checked promptly
  • Wipe or squeegee the shower walls
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges

If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. Movement will crack the new grout and open a path for water.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints, and that water can reach the wall or the floor below.

We also work for businesses, from offices to washrooms and kitchens. For commercial premises, we can talk through working times when we quote.

Regrouting in World's End: local notes

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Homes close to St Andrew's Church include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant. Managing a site like Manor Field Primary School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes.

World's End questions

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Wivelsfield station?

Yes. We work for landlords and letting agents as well as householders. Just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Is World's End within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We’ll tell you when we quote.

Do you grout the corners?

Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout can’t take that movement.

Where are you based?

Our base is in Crawley, West Sussex, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Can you do several jobs on one visit?

Yes, we can. More than one area can go on one quote.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or the area where the grout has gone.

Which products do you use?

The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

What we do, step by step

Our applicators work methodically: protection first, then preparation, sealing and a tidy-up. For most jobs that takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. For a job in World's End, we agree the time, the access and parking before the day. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.

  1. We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
  2. We rake out the grout evenly, protecting the tile edges.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. Silicone goes into the corners and along the edges.

How to prepare

  • Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

How to get a quote

We do not publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To arrange one, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

Signs you need regrouting in World's End

Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Grout stained black or orange that will not clean
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease

For landlords with property near Wivelsfield station, clean grout and fresh sealant between tenancies make a bathroom look cared for again.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Which colour the sealant will be
  • The length of the guarantee
  • Whether all the old sealant comes out first

How the job changes by surface

Corners and edges

Where tiles meet a bath, tray or worktop, the joint is sealed. Grout in that joint wouldn’t last.

Wet rooms

Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, some problems need a different trade:

  • Waterproofing that has failed below the tiling
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are chipped or split

If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think.
