Regrouting for homes and businesses in Hammerpot

Most regrouting jobs include resealing too. Grout is for the joints between tiles, but corners and edges move, so they need flexible silicone instead. Doing both at once leaves the whole area sound. We’re often asked to deal with crumbling grout between the tiles and grout in a colour the owner wants to change, on bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom wall tiles.

In a village or hamlet like Hammerpot, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

What sealant work can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind
  • A floor or wall that keeps moving
  • A leaking shower valve or waste

Not sure which it is? You can ring 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will tell you honestly.

What we seal

  • Wet rooms
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom floors
  • Shower walls
  • Kitchen splashbacks

Keeping the joints in good condition

A little care helps the new joints last. We recommend:

  • Skip wire brushes and scourers
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

Check the corner silicone now and then. It’s the part that moves, so the sealant there will need renewing in time.

Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. Once that happens, regrouting won’t fix it so early action pays.

When to call us in Hammerpot

A poor original job is a common cause. If it was mixed too wet or not pressed in firmly tends to wash out early.

Common reasons people contact us are:

  • Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
  • Gaps where the shower grout has gone
  • Good tiles let down by tired grout
  • Floor grout that won’t come clean

If you let a flat or house near Angmering station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.

What to look for in a quote

  • How long to leave it before use
  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • Whether you can choose the colour
  • How much experience the applicator has

Our hiring checklist

Your questions about regrouting in Hammerpot

Is Hammerpot in your area for regrouting?

Yes, Hammerpot is within the area we cover. Our work covers London and the South East. You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and let us know what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear price.

Can you help a landlord with a rental near Angmering station?

Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and tell us about the property, and we will give you a clear quote.

Can new sealant go over the old?

No, and we never do. It can look neat for a few weeks, but the new layer lifts away from the old one. The old sealant has to come out completely.

Do you take out the old sealant first?

Yes, every time. New silicone does not stick to old silicone, so any old material comes out before anything new goes in.

Does someone need to be in?

We need access to the joints, so we’ll agree that with you when we book. Indoors, that normally means someone at home.

Should I try DIY first?

Some simple jobs can be done by a careful DIYer. Most DIY failures come from sealing over old material, wet joints or too much sealant.

What does regrouting cost?

The cost depends on the size of the job, access and how much old sealant has to come out. Call for a quick quote.

Are you ARBOMaster approved?

Yes. We are an ARBOMaster approved applicator, which is run for the Arbo sealant brand.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Hammerpot

Letting agents often deal with us directly. Tell us the address, the job and how access works and we will quote.

Businesses can book us for washrooms, kitchens, offices and more. On commercial sites, working times can be discussed when we quote.

What happens on the day

On the day, there’s very little for you to do. Point us to the joints and we’ll get on with it. The work itself takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room from start to finish. Somewhere like Hammerpot needs a little journey planning: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. The joints are vacuumed clean.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking rules near the property
  • Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the joints have been sealed before

How to get a quote

The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and add photos by email if you can.

Why act early in Hammerpot

Cleaning products may brighten grout for a time, but mould that has got into grout normally comes back. New grout, with silicone in the corners, deals with the cause. Where a wall is exposed, as many are in small places like Hammerpot, wind-driven rain gets into any failed joint, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every job
  • We never seal over old sealant
  • Anti-fungal silicone where joints get wet
  • Neat joints and a tidy finish

Regrouting around Hammerpot

Hammerpot is within about 3 miles of the coast. Near the coast, holiday lets and guest houses can see bathrooms used by one guest after another, which wears sealant and grout out faster than in a quiet home. Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Schools such as St Margaret's CofE Primary School are buildings too, and its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s. In the older streets around The Parish Church of St Margaret, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
