Regrouting across Oxfordshire

Our regrouting service in Oxfordshire

If you’ve been scrubbing grout that will not come clean, the discolouration has generally soaked into the grout. Replacing it is the lasting answer and you can pick a different colour while you are at it. We are often asked to deal with stained grout that cleaning won’t shift and grout in corners that has cracked, across shower walls, kitchen splashbacks and bathroom wall tiles.

The work is kept neat and contained to the area we are working on. The job generally takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room.

  1. First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
  2. The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

Pricing in Oxfordshire

Some things make a job bigger or smaller: how much old sealant there is and how stubborn it is, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Local landmarks in Oxford

We work in homes and buildings around Headington Rye Oxford, Alexander Library of Ornithology and South Park and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include East Oxford Primary School (less than half a mile south-west), Cheney School (within half a mile east), The Star pub (less than half a mile west) and St Clement's Church (under half a mile north-west). The closest station to Oxford is Oxford station, roughly 1.6 miles west of the centre. Nearby you’ll also find Warneford Hospital (less than half a mile east) and Rumble Museum (under half a mile east). The countryside around Oxford includes CS Lewis Nature Reserve and Headington Hill.

Bathrooms and kitchens across Oxfordshire

From Oxford, Banbury and Didcot to its smaller places, homes across Oxfordshire have bathrooms and kitchens of every age. Family bathrooms, rented flats and hotel en suites all need their sealant and grout renewing in time.

London and the South East have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. The right sealant depends on the age and materials of the building.

Oxford: For landlords with property near Oxford station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. In the older streets around St Clement's Church, older homes can move a little, which is hard on rigid grout and tired sealant.

How we quote for regrouting

We quote each job individually. This is what makes a difference:

  • The number of rooms or windows
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • Access and height
  • The size of the job

There are no prices on our website, because each job is priced on what it involves. Call for a quick quote and we’ll talk you through it.

What we need to know

To make quoting easier, let us know:

  • If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
  • The rough size of the job
  • The address or postcode of the job
  • Any previous sealing or DIY work

We do not publish a price list, as no two jobs are quite the same. Instead, your job gets its own clear quote. To get started, call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.

What happens if it’s left?

With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and the room is out of use for longer. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:

  • Damaged tiles that need replacing
  • A leaking shower valve or waste
  • Tiles that are loose or hollow behind

Landlords, agents and businesses in Oxfordshire

Housing providers, facilities teams and property managers book us too. We can quote a run of properties together.

A neglected joint can let water reach the structure, which matters even more when someone else lives there. Resealing at the right time is simple maintenance.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. Everything old must be removed first.

Some jobs are best left to a professional: work at height, external movement joints, fire-rated sealant and large areas call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

Oxfordshire questions

Will you leave a mess?

No. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Do you remove the old sealant?

Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before resealing.

How long does the job take?

It depends on the size of the job, but most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. We will tell you when we quote.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes, we do. Domestic, commercial and hotel work are all part of what we do, and we’re fully insured.

What sealant do you use?

It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Most of the time, yes. Grout fills tile gaps and sealant handles the moving joints, so both are renewed and include it in your quote.

Is there any odour?

Possibly a little. It fades as the sealant cures, and ventilation helps.
