About our regrouting in Hinton Waldrist
When grout stays dark however much you clean it, the stain is often in the grout itself. Replacing it is the lasting answer, and it’s a chance to change the colour too. If you have good tiles let down by tired grout and splashback grout that has darkened, we can help, whatever the surface.
In a village or hamlet like Hinton Waldrist, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
You are covered for a year from the day we finish. If anything isn’t right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or email us.

What affects the cost of regrouting
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- When we can work, for business premises
- Whether the work is at height
A few things move the cost up or down: the old material and how easily it comes out, whether mould needs treating, and whether we need extra access for height. Your quote takes all of that into account.

Aftercare tips
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
- Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
If a tile starts to feel loose, get it looked at early. A loose tile cracks the grout around it and open a path for water.
Small problems with grout are quick to put right. Left for a few years, they can become a leak, so get it looked at when you notice it.
What we do, step by step
On the day, we start by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Surfaces next to the work are protected before any work begins. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a small place like Hinton Waldrist, access is usually the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.
- We check the tiles for any that are hollow or loose.
- The old grout is removed to an even depth.
- We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
- New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
- We finish with silicone in the moving joints.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- Tell us about any previous sealing or DIY attempts
- Plan for the work area to be out of bounds to pets and children

Related advice
Should I try it myself first?
If you do try it yourself, take your time over the preparation: remove every trace of old sealant, clean and dry the joint, and follow the product’s cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Not every job suits DIY: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs need the right product, the right access and the right method.
For landlords and businesses
Failed sealant is one of the commonest items on a check-out report, and it’s quick to put right between tenancies. Several properties can go on one quote.
Hotels need rooms back in use, so we plan the work room by room around your bookings where we can. We’ve worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
When to call us in Hinton Waldrist
Grout used in corners or along the bath cracks as the bath or tray moves. They need flexible sealant, and when they are not, water gets in.
If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:
- Stained grout that cleaning will not shift
- Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
- Splashback grout that has darkened
- Corners filled with grout instead of silicone
Managing a site like Longworth Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Hinton Waldrist: your questions answered
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Hinton Waldrist?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We’re fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can you do regrouting in Hinton Waldrist?
Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Hinton Waldrist is part of that. Just ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a few details of the job.
Should I try DIY first?
For a simple, easy-to-reach joint, a careful DIYer can do a reasonable job. The usual mistakes are sealing over old sealant, sealing a damp joint and using too much.
What if some of my tiles are loose?
If tiles are loose, something behind them has normally failed. Regrouting alone is not the answer, and we’ll tell you before work begins.
Is there any odour?
That depends on the sealant. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
Normally we do both. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.
Is it OK to seal over old sealant?
No. Fresh sealant does not stick to old sealant, and anything trapped underneath, including mould and water, stays there. It all has to come out first.
Can tenants book the work?
Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often happy for the work to be arranged.
What happens if it’s left?
With regrouting, your tiles stay where they are. Retiling is a much bigger job: stripping, making good, new tiles and new grout, and the room is out of use for longer. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. Around Hinton Waldrist, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, plus any working-time requirements on site. Call for a quick quote and we will go through it with you.
