Aston Rowant: your questions answered
What guarantee comes with regrouting in Aston Rowant?
Every job comes with our one-year guarantee, wherever it is. We are fully insured, and an ARBOMaster approved applicator.
Can you do regrouting in Aston Rowant?
Yes. We work across London and the South East, and Aston Rowant is part of that. You can call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing.
Should I try DIY first?
Sometimes. The key is preparation: remove all the old material and work on a clean, dry joint. We can always put it right if it fails.
Do you grout the corners?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They move slightly and grout cannot take that movement.
Which products do you use?
The product depends on the job: sanitary silicone where it gets wet, and sealants suited to movement or weather elsewhere. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Just list everything you need and we will quote it together.
Will there be a smell?
It depends on the product. Some smell for a while, some hardly at all, and any smell fades as they cure.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. All of the old material is cut out and the joint cleaned before applying anything new.
How we handle regrouting in Aston Rowant
We regroute showers, bathroom walls and floors, splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Either way, tiled areas in Aston Rowant are handled the same careful way. We are often asked to deal with grout in a colour the owner wants to change and kitchen splashback grout stained by grease, on tiled floors, shower walls and kitchen splashbacks.
Somewhere as small as Aston Rowant, homes tend to be cottages, farmhouses or converted buildings, with some newer houses too. Older walls and timber floors can move a little, and cracked grout and split sealant are often the first signs.
Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

When something else is needed
Honest advice matters more to us than a booking, so here’s what new sealant won’t do:
- Movement in a stud wall or floor
- Cracked or broken tiles
- A leaking shower valve or waste
If you are not sure, just call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Shower walls
- Wet rooms
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
Keeping the joints in good condition
To keep the joints looking good and working properly:
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Wipe water off the walls when you’re done
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
- Rinse soap off the tiles after each shower
Use a gentle cleaner on the grout with a soft brush. Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers because they wear grout away.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Every shower pushes more water into the gaps and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
Why act early in Aston Rowant
Regrouting will not help where tiles have come away. We’ll tell you before work begins, so you can decide what to do. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting is far less disruptive than retiling. In a small place like Aston Rowant, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
We do not show prices on the website, because the cost depends so much on the job itself. For a quick quote, please call 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will talk you through it.

What we do, step by step
All our tools and materials come with us in the van, so you don’t need to buy or prepare anything. After a quick look at the joints together, we protect the area and start. Most jobs take a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Somewhere as small as Aston Rowant, access is often the only tricky part. For outside work, also let us know about exposed walls and any outbuildings involved.
- First, we check for loose or hollow tiles and point out any we find.
- The old grout comes out to a consistent depth, without damaging the tiles.
- We vacuum the joints and clean out the dust.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- Corners and edges are resealed with flexible silicone, not grout.
Before we arrive
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises

DIY versus a professional finish
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone doesn’t stick to old silicone, so it peels away and traps moisture behind it. All the old material has to come out first.
What a professional job adds is preparation and the right product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is matched to the joint and its conditions, and the work is guaranteed for a year.
How the job changes by surface
Kitchen splashbacks
Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.
Wet rooms
Both the grout and the silicone in a wet room matter. We renew both.
What we are called out for in Aston Rowant
Most grout is porous, so it soaks up water, soap and dirt. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that’s used every day.
Look out for any of the following:
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Cracked or crumbling grout lines
- Gaps where the shower grout has gone
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
If you live in an older home near Church of St Peter and St Paul, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
