Regrouting in Catslip
A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. Light grout can go darker to hide marks, or the other way round. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote. If you have crumbling grout between the tiles and splashback grout that has darkened, we can help, on wet rooms, bathroom floors and shower walls alike.
Around Catslip, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats, some with bathrooms tucked into older rooms or extensions. The work is the same as anywhere: old material cut out, joints cleaned and a fresh finish laid.
All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Catslip
Catslip has hotels and guest accommodation nearby. As well as homes, we work in hotel bathrooms, where resealing and regrouting can be done room by room. Most of the South East has hard water, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
If you let a flat or house near Henley-On-Thames station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Bartholomew, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. If you look after a building such as Nettlebed Community School, its toilets, changing areas and kitchens need their sealant renewed like any other building’s.
Catslip is about 7 miles north of Caversham, in Oxfordshire. Wherever you are in the RG9 postcode area, we cover regrouting for homes and businesses. We cover 443 towns and villages across Oxfordshire, from the larger towns to small villages. Our Reading page covers work nearby (9 miles or so).

Aftercare tips
Good habits help new joints last longer. A few tips:
- Have loose tiles looked at early
- Run the extractor fan during and after a shower
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
- Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and go gently on the grout at first.
Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it, so it’s worth acting early.
What happens if it’s left?
Regrouting keeps the tiles you already have. Retiling means stripping the walls, making good and choosing new tiles, and the room is out of use for longer. If the tiles are sound, regrouting is the simpler fix. In a small place like Catslip, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
The cost depends on how much there is to do, how hard the old material is to remove and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before we start, so you know where you stand.

How the visit works
Before we leave, we go over the finished joints with you and tell you how long to leave it. The visit itself usually takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room, depending on the size of the job. For a village or hamlet like Catslip, the journey is planned in advance: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. We bring what the job needs, so it can be finished in one trip where possible.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
- Internal corners and edges are resealed.
How to prepare
- Move anything stored near the joints
- Tell us if parking is tricky
- Mention any tricky access
How to get a quote
Asking for a quote is easy: tell us what needs doing and where and its rough size. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we will take it from there.
Advice
Your questions about regrouting in Catslip
Is Catslip within the area you cover?
Yes. Catslip is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our work covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Do you work for landlords with property near Henley-On-Thames station?
Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can go on one quote. You can ring 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email with the details for a clear quote.
Can you work on commercial sites?
Yes. Hotels, offices and other businesses use us.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Always. Sealing over the old bead is the commonest cause of early failure, so we never do it.
Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?
We normally do. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
What do you put in the joint?
We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference, and we will explain our choice.
Where do you work from?
Our base is Crawley, with over 20 years’ experience. Our area covers South East England, London and Scotland.
Can you quote for more than one area?
Yes, and it often makes sense. Doing several areas at once is normally more efficient, so mention them when you ask for a quote.
How we quote for regrouting
The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
- Whether the work is at height
- Any mould that needs treating
- The product the joint needs
A failed joint rarely gets cheaper to fix by waiting, because water and mould keep working on it. If you are not sure whether it needs doing, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will give you an honest view and a quote.
Helping us quote
To help us quote quickly, please include:
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- If someone has resealed it before
- How we’d reach the joints
- What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
Quotes start with a quick conversation. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job, and we will explain how we’d tackle it. When it suits you, ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.
Can I do it myself?
If you are set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it fails, we can still redo it.
The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.
For landlords and businesses
In hotels, rooms out of use cost money, so the work can be planned room by room around your bookings where we can. We have worked in hotels as well as homes and businesses.
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, what’s needed and the access arrangements.
What we can’t put right
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Damaged tiles that need replacing
- Leaks from pipes, valves or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Not sure which it is? You can phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email and we will tell you honestly before you book.
