Regrouting for homes and businesses in Upper Heyford

We work across Upper Heyford, regrouting bathrooms, showers and kitchens. Out comes the old grout, the joints are cleaned and new grout goes in, finished with new silicone at the edges. We work on bathroom floors, bathroom wall tiles and kitchen splashbacks, and people most often call us about floor grout that has worn and darkened and grout that makes sound tiles look old.

Homes around Upper Heyford range from older cottages to more recent houses. Older homes can move a little with the seasons, which is hard on tired sealant and rigid grout.

Each job carries a 12-month guarantee, large or small.

FAQs for Upper Heyford

Do you cover smaller places like Upper Heyford?

Yes. We work for landlords and agents as well as householders, and several properties can be quoted together. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we will give you a clear price.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Several rooms, windows or areas can go on one quote.

Do you guarantee regrouting?

Are you an approved applicator?

Yes. We’re approved under the ARBOMaster scheme, the approved applicator scheme for Arbo sealants.

Do you regrout part of a bathroom, like the shower?

Yes, that is common. The shower normally fails first, so many people regrout just that part.

Where is Mr Mastic based?

Our base is in Crawley, and we cover South East England, London and all of Scotland.

Do you work for hotels and businesses?

Yes. We have worked for hotels, offices and other businesses.

Leave it or put it right?

Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but mould that has got into grout generally comes back. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. In an older home around Upper Heyford, damp from a failed joint can get into timber and plaster, which is far harder to put right than the sealant itself.

Every job is a little different, so we quote each one individually. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all make a difference, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

What affects the cost of regrouting

We don’t publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. The quote depends on:

  • How much there is to do
  • Whether there’s mould to deal with
  • Working hours on commercial sites
  • How many areas need sealing

What you pay reflects the work, not a rough estimate. That’s why we ask a few questions first.

What we need to know

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Whether it has been sealed before
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Roughly how big the job is
  • Where the property is

Call for a quick quote, or send an email if you’d rather. Tell us about the joints that need doing and we will explain what’s involved.

How it works

Most of a good job is in the preparation, and we do not rush it. Joints are cleaned back and dried before anything new goes in. In total, it normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. In a smaller place like Upper Heyford, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. If the job is outside, tell us about side access and how high the joints are.

  1. First we agree what’s being done and flag any loose tiles.
  2. Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
  3. The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
  4. The new grout goes in, then the tile faces are cleaned.
  5. Internal corners and edges are resealed.

Getting ready for the visit

Advice

Should I try it myself first?

If you’ve already had a go yourself, that is fine. We remove it and do the joint properly.

Sealing over old silicone is the commonest DIY error. New silicone won’t bond to old, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. Everything old must be removed first.

Common problems we fix in Upper Heyford

Poor ventilation keeps grout damp, and damp grout is where mould grows. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.

People normally contact us when they notice one of these:

  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Cracked grout along the bath or tray
  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles

In the older streets around Heyford Park Chapel, timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them.
