About our regrouting in Bloxham

We check the tiles before any grout comes out. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, because regrouting won’t fix what’s behind them. With sound tiles, regrouting is a tidy, lasting improvement. We’re often asked to deal with gaps where the shower grout has gone and good tiles let down by tired grout, across bathroom floors, tiled floors and wet rooms.

Smaller places like Bloxham still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Whether it’s a cottage bathroom or a newer en suite, the approach is the same: old sealant or grout cut out, joints cleaned and dried, and a fresh finish laid.

All of our work is guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you are.

Bloxham: your questions answered

Is Bloxham in your area for regrouting?

Yes. Our work covers London and the South East, and Bloxham is part of that. Just call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email with a few details of the job, and we will give you a clear price.

Will you come out to Bloxham?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Do you grout the corners?

Silicone. Grout belongs between the tiles, while corners and edges need a joint that can move.

Is resealing included with regrouting?

Most of the time, yes. Grout and sealant do different jobs, so we renew both and it’s all in the quote.

Can tenants book the work?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What sealant do you use?

We choose the sealant for the joint, not the other way round. Where it moves, gets wet or faces the weather makes a difference.

Can you regrout if a few tiles are loose?

Regrouting will not fix loose tiles. We check the tiles first and tell you if any are loose or hollow so you know where you stand.

Will it make a mess?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

How the job changes by surface

Corners and edges

Internal corners move, so we seal them rather than grout them.

Wet rooms

New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It does not repair failed tanking underneath.

What affects the quote in Bloxham

The quote reflects the job in front of us. We look at:

  • The old material and how stubborn it is
  • The number and length of the joints
  • How many areas need sealing
  • How easy the joints are to reach

What it costs depends on the size of the job, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.

What to tell us for a quote

Photos help, but a description is a good start. Please mention:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • If someone has resealed it before
  • The problem you’ve noticed
  • How many joints, rooms or windows are involved

We do not publish a price list, because every job is different. Instead, we send you a clear quote for your job. To get started, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

DIY versus a professional finish

Some jobs are best left to a professional: high-level joints, fire-rated gaps, external movement joints and big jobs call for the right materials, safe access and experience.

The difference is mostly in the preparation and the product. Joints are cleaned back to sound surfaces and dried, and the sealant is chosen for how the joint moves and where it is.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Bloxham

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Schools such as Bloxham Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For landlords with property near Banbury station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

Bloxham is about 3 miles south of Banbury, in Oxfordshire. Every kind of property in Bloxham can book us for regrouting, old or new, large or small. Every job comes with our 12-month guarantee. What we do, step by step

Most of a good job is in the preparation, so that’s where we spend the time. Every joint is cleaned and dried before new material goes in. In total, it normally takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room. Parking around Bloxham is generally easier than in a town centre, but mention any lanes, gates or long drives. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.

  1. We check the tiles are sound and flag any that are loose or hollow.
  2. Old grout is raked out to a consistent depth without chipping the tiles.
  3. Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
  4. We fill the joints with new grout, then clean the tiles.
  5. The corners and edges get new silicone, because grout there would crack.

How to prepare

  • On commercial sites, let us know about site rules
  • Mention any tricky access
  • Let us know about earlier repairs to the joints

Advice

What sealant work can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or other trade rather than us:

  • Water coming from plumbing rather than grout
  • Tiles that have come away from the wall
  • A leaking wet room membrane

If you are not sure, just ring 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

Where we work in Bloxham

  • Tiled floors
  • Bathroom floors
  • Kitchen splashbacks
  • Bathroom wall tiles
  • Shower walls
  • Wet rooms

How to look after the new joints

To keep the joints looking good and working properly:

  • Keep the fan on after showering
  • Keep harsh bleach and acid cleaners off the grout
  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Give the walls a quick rinse after use

A squeegee or cloth over the tiles after use keeps water off the grout. Run the extractor fan or open a window so the grout dries between uses.

If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.

Common problems we fix in Bloxham

Movement behind the tiles cracks grout. That can be a loose tile, a flexing floor or a stud wall, which is why we check the tiles first.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
  • A grout colour that no longer suits the room
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines
  • Grout stained black or orange that won’t clean

If you live in an older home near Church of St Mary, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.
