Regrouting in Sarsden

A grout colour change can freshen a room without retiling. You might go from white to grey or back again. Just mention the colour you’d like when you phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email. We work on wet rooms, shower walls and bathroom wall tiles, and the jobs we see most are grout in corners that has cracked and floor grout that has worn and darkened.

Around Sarsden, it’s houses and cottages rather than flats. The work is the same as anywhere: everything old comes out before the new sealant or grout goes in.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right with it, phone 0345 464 0079 or send us an email.

Aftercare tips

A little care helps the new joints last. Our advice:

  • Avoid neat bleach and strong acid descalers on grout
  • Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
  • Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
  • Keep an eye on the silicone along the edges

We’ll tell you when the area can be used again. Please follow it, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.

Once grout cracks, it tends to get worse. Water gets in behind and the tiles can start to loosen, so regrouting early can save a retile.

DIY sealant or a professional job?

If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still put it right.

The biggest DIY mistake is sealing over old sealant. Silicone does not stick to old silicone, so it lifts and traps water and mould underneath. All the old material has to come out first.

Bathrooms and kitchens in Sarsden

Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, which leaves limescale on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.

Managing a site like Chipping Norton School? Then washroom and kitchen sealant there needs the same care as at home, and schools and businesses are part of our work as well as homes. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St James, walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

Quotes for regrouting in Sarsden

Call for a quick quote. What matters most is:

  • Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
  • The product the joint needs
  • When we can work, for business premises
  • How many rooms, windows or areas are involved

The cost depends on the amount of work, how much old material has to come out and how easy the joints are to reach. We give a clear quote before work begins, so you know where you stand.

What we need to know

Photos by email are helpful but not essential. Try to tell us:

  • How we’d reach the joints
  • The type of property
  • What the problem is, such as mould, gaps, leaks or cracking
  • Where the job is, and your postcode

Getting a quote is simple: tell us what needs doing and where. A few pictures by email make the job easier to understand, and we’ll take it from there.

Surface by surface

Wet rooms

New grout in a wet room keeps the surface sound. It cannot fix waterproofing below the tiles.

Bathroom wall tiles

Grout by the basin and bath tends to mark first. We can do part of a wall or all of it.

When to call us in Sarsden

Soap scum and limescale build up on grout and stick to it. In time the grout under it darkens and breaks down, which is when replacing it makes sense.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • Grout that is cracking and breaking up
  • Old grout in a dated colour
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor

For landlords with property near Kingham station, stained grout drags a rental down, and regrouting between lets puts that right.

What to look for in a quote

  • Which sealant they’ll use, and why
  • What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
  • Is VAT in the price?
  • The length of the guarantee

10 questions to ask before you book

How it works

There’s no need to move everything out, only the area right around the joints. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room for a typical job. In a small place like Sarsden, access is normally the main thing to plan. If the job is outside, mention outbuildings, exposed walls and how to reach them.

  1. Every tile area is checked for hollow or loose tiles first.
  2. The old grout is removed to an even depth.
  3. We vacuum the joints so the new grout bonds.
  4. New grout is pressed into the joints and the tiles are cleaned.
  5. We finish with silicone in the moving joints.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
  • Move anything stored near the joints
  • Keep pets and children clear of the area while we work

Is Sarsden within the area you cover?

Yes, Sarsden is covered. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.

I let a flat near Kingham station. Can you help?

Yes, landlords and agents are among the people we work for, and several properties can be quoted together. Just call 0345 464 0079 or email us with the address and what needs doing, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

How do I get a quote for regrouting in Sarsden?

Every job is different, so each one gets its own quote. To get one, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and let us know what needs doing and where.

Can you regrout just the shower?

Yes. Many jobs are just the shower walls, or the area where the grout has gone.

What do you put in the joint?

It depends on the joint: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. We use products from Arbo and Everbuild.

Will the old sealant be removed?

Yes, always, and completely. New sealant will not bond properly to old, so the joint is cleaned back first.

Will it make a mess?

Very little: the area around the joints is protected first, and we clear up the old sealant and our materials before we leave.

Do you do commercial work?

Yes. We work in offices, washrooms, hotels and other commercial premises, as well as homes. We can talk about working times when we quote.
