Great Tew Regrouting
Tiled areas in Great Tew need attention? We cut out the old, prepare the joints and apply the right sealant, with a one-year guarantee.
- Floor grout that won’t come clean
- Grout that stays dark however much it’s cleaned
- Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
Regrouting in Great Tew, done properly
Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, others just the shower. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. If you are dealing with floor grout that has worn and darkened and old grout in a dated colour, we can put it right, whatever the surface.
In a village or hamlet like Great Tew, homes are often older cottages and farmhouses alongside a few newer houses. Movement in older walls and floors tends to show first as cracked grout or split sealant.

Regrouting in Great Tew: local notes
Most of the South East has hard water, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings, and it has to be cleaned off before new sealant goes in.
Homes close to Church of St Michael and All Angels include some older properties, and timber floors under older bathrooms flex, so joints need a sealant that moves with them. Managing a site like Great Tew County Primary School? Then we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.

Why act early in Great Tew
Bleach can lighten stained grout for a while, but stains and mould that have soaked in tend to return. Replacing the grout and resealing the edges is a lasting fix. Around Great Tew, older homes often have timber in their floors and frames, where water from a failed joint can cause rot if it’s left.
No two jobs are quite the same, so each one gets its own quote. The number of joints, how easy they are to reach and the sealant needed all play a part, and we’ll explain the quote if you ask.

When it isn’t the sealant
A few problems are outside what sealant work can do:
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Tiles that have come away from the wall
- Cracked or broken tiles
If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or email us and we will say what we think before you book.
What we seal
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Shower walls
- Tiled floors
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Wet rooms
- Bathroom floors
Looking after it afterwards
So the new joints stay in good condition:
- Stick to mild products for cleaning grout
- Do not ignore a tile that feels loose
- Rinse the tiles after showering
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
Before we leave, you will know when the shower can be used. Stick to that time, and avoid scrubbing the new grout hard for the first few days.
If grout in the shower is washing out, act soon. Each shower drives water into the open joints and it can end up in the wall or the ceiling below.
Great Tew: your questions answered
Will you come out to Great Tew?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Is there a guarantee on regrouting in Great Tew?
All our work, in Great Tew and everywhere else, comes with a 12-month guarantee. We are also fully insured and ARBOMaster approved.
Do I have to be there?
It depends on the job. Inside work needs someone to give us access, and for outside work we will agree access with you when we book.
Do you do commercial work?
Yes, regularly. Larger jobs can be planned room by room or area by area.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are glad to have it sorted.
What do you put in the joint?
The product depends on the job: anti-fungal sanitary silicone in wet areas, and other sealants where joints move or face the weather. Brands we use include Arbo and Everbuild.
Do you remove the old sealant?
Yes. Sealing over old sealant is the main reason resealing fails early, and it’s something we never do.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, and we never do. It may look fine at first, but the new bead soon lifts. Removing the old sealant completely is the only lasting way.
Surface by surface
Shower walls
Showers put more water on grout than anywhere else. We rake it out and regrout, and reseal the corners.
Wet rooms
Regrouting a wet room helps keep water on the surface of the tiles. It cannot fix waterproofing below the tiles.
How the visit works
We keep the work tidy and contained to the joints we are treating, so you can get on with your day. The job generally takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area, and we tell you how long to leave it before we go. For a village or hamlet like Great Tew, the journey is planned in advance: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. Everything for the job comes with us, so a second trip is avoided where possible.
- We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
- Grout is raked out without chipping the tiles.
- The joints are cleaned out and vacuumed.
- We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
- We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.
How to prepare
- Keep children and pets away from the work area
- Let us know if you’ve seen damp or leaks
- Mention any sign-in or site rules at work premises
How to get a quote

What affects the cost of regrouting
Your quote is based on your job. We take into account:
- The type of sealant required
- How many areas need sealing
- Working hours on commercial sites
- Whether old sealant or filler has to be cut out
What it costs depends on the size of the job, how hard the old material is to remove and access to the work. You’ll have a clear quote before any work starts, so you know where you stand.
Helping us quote
The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote. When you ask for a quote, tell us:
- The rough size of the job
- The type of property
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- How we’d reach the joints
It all starts with a short chat. Describe the problem, the location and the size of the job. Whenever you’re ready, phone 0345 464 0079 or drop us an email.
