How we quote for regrouting
The price is agreed before any work begins. It’s based on:
- Whether there’s mould to deal with
- The old material and how stubborn it is
- The number and length of the joints
- How many rooms, windows or areas are involved
Every job is a little different, so each one gets its own quote. Size, access and the product the joint needs all make a difference.
What to tell us for a quote
You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us:
- How we’d reach the joints
- Photos by email, if that’s easy
- Any previous sealing or DIY work
- If it’s domestic, commercial or a hotel
The more we know about the job, the more useful the quote. Tell us where the job is, what’s wrong and how much there is, and email photos if that is easy.
Regrouting for homes and businesses in North Hinksey
Before any work starts, the tiles are checked. If any tiles are loose or sound hollow, we tell you, because regrouting will not fix what’s behind them. Where the tiles are sound, regrouting gives the area a new lease of life. Typical jobs include floor grout that has worn and darkened and a grout colour that no longer suits the room, on shower walls, bathroom floors and kitchen splashbacks.
Around North Hinksey, you’ll mostly find houses and bungalows, from older cottages to newer builds. Bathrooms and kitchens here get the same daily wear as anywhere, and the sealant and grout show it first.

DIY sealant or a professional job?
Too much sealant is as bad as too little. A thick, smeared bead looks untidy and doesn’t move well, and getting the depth right matters as much as the look.
If you’re set on DIY, put the effort into preparation: take out all the old sealant, make sure the joint is clean and dry, and give it the full cure time. If it does not work out, we can still put it right.
Do you need regrouting in North Hinksey?
A bathroom that stays damp keeps the grout wet, giving mould a place to grow. Black marks that come back after cleaning are often in the grout itself.
Most people get in touch after spotting one of these:
- Crumbling grout between the tiles
- Dirty, worn grout on a tiled floor
- Greasy, stained grout behind the hob
- Cracked grout along the bath or tray
For landlords with property near Oxford station, a regrout while the flat is empty is quicker than working around a tenant.
What your quote should include
- What product goes in the joint
- Whether all the old sealant comes out first
- What happens if they find a problem under the old sealant
- Whether you can choose the colour
Regrouting in North Hinksey: local notes

Schools such as North Hinksey Church of England Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes. Homes close to St Peter and St Paul include some older properties, and bathrooms in older houses have often been refitted more than once, with sealant laid over sealant.

North Hinksey questions
Is North Hinksey within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, from towns to the smallest places. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
I let a flat near Oxford station. Can you help?
Yes, we work for landlords and letting agents. Just phone 0345 464 0079 or email us and tell us about the property, and we’ll give you a clear price.
How long does the job take?
It depends on the size of the job, but as a guide it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. We will give you a better idea when we quote.
Do you grout the corners?
Corners get silicone, not grout. They flex and grout can’t take that movement.
Is resealing included with regrouting?
Yes, in most cases. Fresh grout next to old, mouldy silicone would look odd and wouldn’t keep water out.
Do the sealants smell?
There can be a smell while the sealant cures, which fades as it sets. Ventilation helps.
Can new sealant go over the old?
No, because it fails. The old sealant always comes out first, so the new sealant bonds properly.
What does regrouting cost?
It depends on the job, so we quote each one individually. To get one, ring 0345 464 0079 or email us with a short description of the job.
What the job involves on each surface
Bathroom wall tiles
Tiles away from the shower stay drier but grout there still discolours. New grout freshens them up.
Bathroom floors
Grout on a floor is walked on as well as wetted. It wears and darkens over time.
What we can’t put right
We’d rather tell you now than do work that will not last, so here’s what sealant can’t put right:
- Failed tanking or waterproofing under the tiles
- Tiles that are chipped or split
- A structure that flexes behind the tiles
If in doubt, call 0345 464 0079 or send us an email and we will say what we think.
Joints and surfaces we work on
- Shower walls
- Wet rooms
- Tiled floors
- Bathroom wall tiles
- Kitchen splashbacks
- Bathroom floors
Looking after it afterwards
Once the sealant has cured, a few habits help it last:
- Use a soft brush rather than a wire one
- Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout
- Use a squeegee on the tiles after showering
- Look at the sealant in the corners now and then
Leave the area unused for as long as we advise, so it can harden properly. From then on, a quick rinse after showering helps and keep the room ventilated.
Tiles can come away if failed grout is left. By then, new grout alone isn’t enough, so it’s worth acting early.

How the visit works
There’s no need to move everything out, just the space around the work. Everything nearby is protected, and the job takes a few hours for a shower enclosure, longer for a whole room in most cases. A visit to North Hinksey is planned like any other: the time, the access and where to park are agreed in advance. If the work is outside, the weather plays a part, as sealant needs a dry surface.
- We start by checking the tiles for any that are loose or hollow.
- We rake out the old grout to an even depth, taking care of the tile edges.
- Dust and debris are vacuumed out of every joint.
- New grout is worked into the joints and cleaned off the tile faces.
- We reseal the internal corners and edges with silicone.
Before we arrive
- Mention if the joints have been sealed before
- Mention any leaks or damp you’ve noticed
- For indoor joints, keep the area dry beforehand if you can
