Regrouting in Grove, Oxfordshire

Our applicators work in Grove on raking out old, cracked or stained grout and regrouting tiled walls and floors. Old sealant removed completely, joints prepared properly and a one-year guarantee.

  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change
  • Kitchen splashback grout stained by grease
  • Cracked or crumbling grout lines

About our regrouting in Grove

Regrouting suits shower walls, bathroom floors, kitchen splashbacks and wet rooms. It can be a full room, or just the area that has failed. Whatever the size, the method stays the same. If you have greasy, stained grout behind the hob and stained grout that cleaning won’t shift, we can put it right.

Smaller places like Grove still have plenty of bathrooms that work hard every day. Older or newer, every room gets the same approach: all the old material out, the joint cleaned and dried, then new sealant or grout.

Big or small, it’s backed by our 12-month guarantee in Grove and across Oxfordshire.

Grove: your questions answered

Will you come out to Grove?

Yes, we do. We work across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you take on hotel work around Grove?

Yes. Hotel and guest-house work is part of what we do. Jobs can be programmed room by room, with out-of-hours working possible to arrange.

How long should I wait before showering?

The wait depends on the materials and how warm the room is. We’ll tell you exactly how long when the job is done.

How long does the job take?

Typically it takes anything from a few hours to a full day, depending on the area. Larger jobs naturally take longer, and we will tell you how long to expect.

Does someone need to be in?

If the work is inside, we need someone to let us in. Once we’ve agreed the job, you do not need to watch us work.

Will it make a mess?

Not at all. The area is protected while we work and cleaned up afterwards.

Will regrouting fix loose tiles?

Loose tiles need refixing before regrouting. We’ll point them out before any grout comes out.

Will the sealant be renewed as well as the grout?

Yes, in most cases. New grout beside old sealant wouldn’t look right and wouldn’t keep water out.

How to look after the new joints

How long the joints last depends on use and care. We suggest:

  • Have loose tiles looked at early
  • Wipe water off the walls when you are done
  • Clean with a soft brush, not anything metal
  • Don’t use strong acidic cleaners on grout

Keep an eye on the silicone in the corners. Corners flex, so the sealant there will need renewing in time, long before the grout does.

Leaving failed grout can mean tiles come loose. Once that happens, regrouting will not fix it so early action pays.

Regrouting around Grove

There are hotels and other places to stay in and around Grove. Hotel bathrooms are part of our work as well as homes, and can be done room by room. Hard water is the norm across most of the South East, so limescale builds up on sealant, grout and fittings.

Homes close to St. John the Baptist include some older properties, and walls and floors in older homes can move, and sealant and grout show it first.

How the visit works

Our applicators work methodically: protect, prepare, seal, tidy. Typically it takes a few hours, or longer for a fully tiled room. In a smaller place like Grove, parking is seldom the issue; lanes, gates and long drives are worth mentioning. For outside work, side access and the height of the joints help us plan.

  1. We agree the area to be regrouted and point out any loose tiles.
  2. We remove the old grout carefully.
  3. Dust is cleared from every joint.
  4. We grout the joints and wipe the tiles clean.
  5. We renew the silicone at the corners and edges.

How to prepare

  • Clear items away from the joints we are working on
  • Tell us about any water getting in
  • Try not to wet indoor joints just before the visit

Related advice

Different surfaces, different methods

Kitchen splashbacks

Kitchen grout collects grease and food splashes. Stained grout is best replaced.

Corners and edges

Corners flex as the building moves, so we seal them rather than grout them.

Why deal with it now?

Grout pens and paint-on colourants only cover the surface. They will not fill gaps or keep water out and stains often come back through. Raking out and regrouting replaces the grout itself. Around Grove, water from a failed joint in an older home can soak into timber and plaster, and that’s a much bigger job than renewing the sealant.

Commercial jobs are quoted on the same basis as homes: the amount of work, the access and the products needed, along with when we can work on site. Ask us for a quote and we will go through it with you.

When to call us in Grove

Grout is porous, so water, soap and grime soak into it. Given time, it discolours and begins to break down, especially in a shower that’s used every day.

If you can see any of these, it’s time to have the joints looked at:

  • Discoloured grout on otherwise sound tiles
  • Floor grout that won’t come clean
  • Grout washed out of a shower
  • Grout in a colour the owner wants to change

Schools such as Millbrook Primary School are buildings too, and we reseal washrooms and kitchens in schools and businesses as well as homes.
